~Books a Plenty Book Reviews
Oh how I love a good cozy mystery especially one that has a library and it haunted. This book has all the makings for the start of a good new series.
~A. Holland Reads
A quick paced read with its humorous moments just in time for my favorite holiday season.
~Laura’s Interests
I was excited when I saw the launch of a new library-based cozy series—and doubly so when I discovered there’s also a ghost! Ghosts and old libraries go together as comfortably as either one does with cozy mysteries. Combining the three is a surefire way to get my attention.
~The Bookwyrm’s Hoard
The mystery in this case was decently constructed, and the writing solid, so that it was a quick, enjoyable read…
~The Ninja Librarian
What a charming supernatural mystery with a cast of characters that you will instantly love!
~Moonlight Rendezvous
I love the premise of the series. Being a librarian myself, I’m always happy when my cozy series either has a librarian as the main character and/or takes place in a library.
~Valerie’s Musings
Great characters, intriguing subplots & back stories, and just enough romance & humor to satisfy every type of reader.
~Reading is My SuperPower
The ongoing activities at the library during the Halloween setting is the icing on the cake in an already delightful debut.
~Melissa’s Mochas, Mysteries and Meows
DEATH OVERDUE was fast paced, fun read…The mystery elements were very well done, and kept me guessing throughout the book.
~Lisa Ks Book Reviews
The setting of the story in a library really intrigued me…The author describes the workings of a library with excellent details.
~Texas Book-aholic
I love reading about old cases in which some clues have appeared and could be solved after so many years, maybe that’s why I liked so much this book, but let me say it had all the ingredients to be a good cozy mystery and a very interesting new series.
~Varietats
It’s a charming story and has the feel of a classic mystery.
~Socrates’ Book Reviews…
As a book lover, how could I not enjoy a book set in a library?! I did of course.
~Storeybook Reviews
Smart, engaging characters, a hint of romance, some paranormal activity, strong use of setting, and a story that kept me reading, “Death Overdue” is a good start to this series.
~Bea’s Book Nook
I found this book to be a perfect pre-Halloween read. Full of books, ghosts, murder, and mayhem, it’s a fun cozy with a good plot and a likable heroine.
~The Book’s the Thing
Bibliophiles love a library. Bibliophiles who enjoy mysteries with a touch of the supernatural will adore Death Overdue by Allison Brooke.
~Back Porchervations
Death Overdue has the perfect combination of a great setting, a touch of paranormal, a hint of romance and of course an enjoyable mystery. Add in the fact that it takes place during Halloween and you have a killer debut.
~Melissa’s Eclectic Bookshelf
This book is entertaining and engaging. A solid start to the series.
~A Cozy Experience
With just a hint of paranormal activity, this is a wonderfully light and fun choice to get into the Halloween spirit.

Carrie Singleton is just about done with Clover Ridge, Connecticut until she’s offered a job as the head of programs and events at the spooky local library, complete with its own librarian ghost. Her first major event is a program presented by a retired homicide detective, Al Buckley, who claims he knows who murdered Laura Foster, a much-loved part-time library aide who was bludgeoned to death fifteen years earlier. As he invites members of the audience to share stories about Laura, he suddenly keels over and dies.
The medical examiner reveals that poison is what did him in and Carrie feels responsible for having surged forward with the program despite pushback from her director. Driven by guilt, Carrie’s determined to discover who murdered the detective, convinced it’s the same man who killed Laura all those years ago. Luckily for Carrie, she has a friendly, knowledgeable ghost by her side. But as she questions the shadows surrounding Laura’s case, disturbing secrets come to light and with each step Carrie takes, she gets closer to ending up like Al.
Now it’s due or die for Carrie in Death Overdue the delightful first in a new cozy series by Allison Brook.
