Wall Street’s miasmal garbage washes up on the Jersey Shore when a small time broker falls in love: Is he attracted to the beautiful lady—or her brother’s inside information?

Held spellbound by a steamy, auburn-haired woman with a dubious past and a get-rich-quick, insider trading scheme, Austin Carr knocks down a beehive of bad-acting Bonacellis, including the ill-tempered “Mr. Vic” Bonacelli, who wants his redhead back, and local mob lieutenant Angelina “Mama Bones” Bonacelli, architect of a strange and excruciating death trap for the fast-talking stockbroker she calls smarty pants.

To survive, Austin must unravel threads of jealousy, revenge and new affections, discover the fate of a pseudo ruby called the Big Mojo and slam the lid on a pending United States of America vs. Austin Carr insider trading case. Can Austin and his Jersey Shore mouthpiece possibly out maneuver the savvy U.S. District Attorney from Manhattan? Will anything matter for Austin ever again if Mama Bones flips that switch?

Dollycas’s Thoughts

First there was Big Numbers. Then came Big Money. Now we have Big Mojo. Jack Getze and Austin Carr make quite a pair. Getze brings Carr to life on each and every page.

Wherever Austin Carr goes trouble follows. There’s trouble at the office, Vic is not happy Austin now has 51% of his company and Rags thinks the company should belong to him. He has trouble at home with a teenage daughter flexing her teenage muscles. And then you have Mama Bones wanting to help her son Vic, but mainly looking out for herself and she is not afraid to use a little voodoo magic to get what she wants. Austin could end up in jail or dead and for what, a gigantic rock that may or may not be real.

Getze writes a tangled web that all seems to lead to the BIG MOJO. Like every book in this series you can be on the edge of your seat on moment and laughing out loud the next. I really feel bad for Austin Carr. He always wants to do the right thing and just when he thinks things are starting to go his way someone flips the tables and he running for his life and trying to keep his kids safe.

Jack Getze packs a huge punch with these shorter novels. Drama takes place at breakneck speed so you had better hold on tight. Big Mojo can be read as a stand alone but you need to start at the beginning to get the full Austin Carr experience. BIG SHOES is coming soon!

THREE WOMEN ARE MAD ENOUGH TO KILL HIM …

Left in charge of a third-rate Jersey Shore investment firm, suspended stockbroker Austin Carr becomes the prize in a war between two crime crews, a powerful state investigator and Mama Bones Bonacelli, his boss’s wacky mother. Barely staying alive with mobsters, beautiful cops, and a hitman he calls The Creeper chasing him, Carr stumbles into the secret world of a beautiful but desperate woman — a murderer who chooses Austin as her next victim.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

I loved Big Numbers, the first installment of this crazy series. This second story is even better.

Austin starts out in a better place. He is working at Shore Securities as a Special Management Adviser waiting for his stockbroker suspension to be lifted. Then the owner decides to leave town for awhile and leaves Austin in charge. Things go downhill quickly and spin out of control. There are just so many things that famous Austin Carr grin can get him out of and The Creeper isn’t falling for it.

Jack Getze tells a hell of a story. There is a naked woman with a shotgun, kidnappings, mob bosses, bullets flying, “Mama Bones”, a crazy hit man, and so much more. These things shouldn’t be funny but the way Austin tells his story he had me laughing out loud again just like in the first story.  Austin Carr is quite the character, he truly has the “Gift of Gab” and I swear he can find trouble anywhere and everywhere. Sometimes he doesn’t think with the head at the top of his body and that always means chaos.

All the characters are rich and colorful from Bluefish, the Jersey Mobster, to the hit man, The Creeper, to cop Fran Dahler, and many more. Mama Bones” Bonacelli was unbelievable.  She is one Mama you don’t want  to mess with.

The author calls his work “screwball mysteries” and that is what they are. They definitely are not cozy and I never laugh like this when reading a Harlan Coben story. The plot is well written and flows perfectly. Once I started reading I just couldn’t stop. When it ended I still wasn’t ready to stop, Getze leaves us with a fantastic cliffhanger.

It is a great way to escape for an afternoon or evening. Please be aware this story is full of adult content and adult language. To get to know Austin you have to start with Big Numbers, then you won’t be able to wait to read Big Money. Then you will be like me, impatiently waiting for BIG … (Book #3).

Divorced father Austin Carr wakes up every day in a beat-up camper, parked on someone else’s private property. Why? Because his alimony and child support payments were established by New Jersey’s family court system when his income was double, and for the last two years he has failed to earn the legally mandated monthly nut. He’s had his savings drained, his Maxima repossessed, his salary attached, and his visiting rights suspended. He bought the twelve-year-old Chevy pick-up with the rusty camper for $800 last month because another landlord tossed his butt in the street.

Will stretching the rules, his own morals, and the boundaries of common sense raise the cash needed to get his kids back? Or will his big mouth and bad behavior set him up for a nasty double-cross? Find out if Austin can redeem himself and win back his children.

Dollycas’s Thoughts
Man, I thought I had bad luck! Austin Carr seems to be cursed and his ex-wife sounds like she was based on my ex-daughter-in-law. So I clearly had a soft spot for Austin from the beginning.

This story covers his life for about 3 short weeks in his life and Austin ends up in the emergency room more times than I can count, wonder if he had insurance 🙂 While tragic circumstances seem to sneak up all around him, Austin has a keen sense of humor and even when facing his own death he comes up with some classic one-liners. The author calls the story a “screwball mystery” and that describes it perfectly. It is full of suspense with snippets that will make you laugh out loud.

All Austin wants is get get his ex off his back so he can spend time with his kids. He owes her a lot of back support to make that happen so he is drawn into an unusual scheme or schemes and at times he in way over his head, drowning quite literally.

Getze has created a sensational character in Austin Carr. Even when he is breaking the law you want him to come out on top. Let’s face it a guy who wears a Speedo to his daughter’s swim competition to go unnoticed can’t be all bad.

If you like your mysteries with plenty of thrills with a side of crazy these pages will be flying. I hated for this book to end!!! I can’t wait for the re-release of Big Money!!!
