From the national bestselling author of The Chocolate Falcon Fraud comes an Easter candy caper featuring chocolatiers Lee Woodyard and her Aunt Nettie, and a killer who’s hopping mad…

The approach of Easter means a rush of business at TenHuis Chocolade, and Lee  and her Aunt Nettie need all the help they can get to make their famous chocolate bunnies. Unfortunately, new hire Bunny Birdsong is a clutzy basketcase dropping everything she picks up. But to Lee’s surprise, she’s a whiz with computers and fixing the store’s website so they decide to keep her.

However, Bunny receives a few visitors they could do without: her soon to be ex-husband Beau, his wealthy aunt Abigail, and his new girlfriend and her brother all descend on the shop one day and have a bitter argument. Lee hopes they can find a peaceful way to settle their dispute and not bring any more trouble to TenHuis. But when Abigail’s body is discovered in the vacant store next door, it’s clear to Lee there’s a bad egg in her midst. Now she’s on the hunt to find out who it is…

Includes tasty chocolate trivia!

Dollycas’s Thoughts

It’s all about the BUNNIES! TenHuis Chocolade is getting ready for Easter with plenty of bunnies on order. The also have a Bunny on the staff, Bunny Birdsong. She seems to be an accident looking for a place to happen, but she does have her talents and Lee finally finds out what those are. Both are surprised when her ex’s aunt shows up at the shop, soon followed by the ex himself with his new girlfriend. A little drama in the sales area that Lee quickly tries to handle. When the aunt becomes the latest murder victim in Warner Pier it isn’t good for “anybunny”. Disruption in the shop has everyone on edge and Bunny on the top of the suspect list means Lee has a basket full of trouble. She is hopping into the investigation to find the real killer so everyone can get back to making all those tasty holiday chocolates we all love.

This is a perfect “EGGSCAPE”. My senses skipped right over Christmas to spring and Easter the minute I started reading. The expansion of TenHuis Chocolade continues with just a little pause for the police to collect their evidence. Lee and her Aunt Nettie are doing their best to keep all the workers and employees focused on their jobs while they and Police Chief Hogan focus on the murder.

JoAnna Carl’s stories never disappoint. I jump right in and they brighten my day. I love the characters, I love the setting and I love the chocolate! Don’t let the number of pages in this book fool you. It is a fantastic cozy mystery that will have you laughing out loud and then on the edge of your seat. So well written and plotted precisely, it has an excellent flow. Family, romance, humor, mystery, everything in the right proportions. Ms. Carl tells a top-notch story. I also enjoy the trivia she includes throughout the book.

Think this series is too far along to jump into, it’s not. The author gives you enough detail without revealing or spoiling anything from previous books in the series. Try one and you are going to want to read them all. You just may want to have some chocolate in the house because this book will have you craving a truffle or 2.

In the New York Times bestselling Fixer-Upper mysteries, contractor Shannon Hammer can repair even the most distressed building. But clearing out the cobwebs from her current project may distress her… to death.

When Mac Sullivan—famous thriller writer and Shannon’s new beau—first moved to Lighthouse Cove, California, he bought the historic lighthouse mansion that the town is named after. Mac needs help cleaning up the place, and Shannon is more than happy to get her handywoman hands on the run-down Victorian.

But during demolition, a grisly discovery is made among the debris—the bones of a teenage girl who went missing fifteen years ago. Locals had always assumed Lily Brogan ran away from her difficult life, but it seems her troubles followed her to the grave. If Shannon has any chance of getting her renovation back on track, she’ll need to tackle the cold case. But with new suspects coming out of the woodwork every day, she’ll have to be careful to pry the right secrets and clues from the poor girl’s problematic past…

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Kate Carlisle has laid out the blueprint for another perfect escape.

Mac Sullivan has purchased what I would call my dream home. The many rooms, the hiding holes, the staircase, and the view. I would love to own a home like that. I would even take finding the dead body as long as it was someone I didn’t know 🙂 The author’s attention to detail is just amazing. She knows how to set the scene with words so we can see everything so clearly.

The plot is very clever, a teenage girl who everyone thought had run away, found in a house so nearby. Her brother never gave up trying to find her and it was heartbreaking to read his feelings and thoughts when she is found. Shannon, our fantastic protag really wants to get at her renovation but first she needs to know what happened in this house 15 years age. There seems to be suspects galore.

Mac and Shannon are growing closer but she still is holding back. A visitor to Lighthouse Cove sheds new light on Mac’s life and his family. Another former resident returns to drum up trouble and Shannon is blessed to have Mac, her friends and family to lean on.

Ms. Carlisle has built a wonderful series, in her Fixer-Upper Mysteries. I have loved everyone and look forward to reading Deck the Hallways as I get ready for the holiday season.

The national bestselling author of The Marsh Madness takes rare book collector Jordan Bingham on a trip to San Francisco—home to Dashiell Hammett’s hard-boiled heroes—where nothing is as it seems.

On a getaway to the City by the Bay, book collector Jordan Bingham becomes entangled in a mystery with more twists than Lombard Street…

Jordan has been able to swing a romantic trip to San Francisco with Officer Tyler “Smiley” Dekker on one condition—she must return with a rare copy of Dashiell Hammett’s Red Harvest for her irascible employer, Vera Van Alst. For his own part, Smiley is full of surprises. He’s a Dashiell devotee himself—excited to be in the city of Hammett’s hard-boiled heroes like Sam Spade and the Continental Op—and also announces he plans to visit his previously unmentioned estranged grandmother, who lives in an old Victorian in Pacific Heights.

But the trip goes downhill fast when Jordan is pushed from a cable car and barely escapes death. And when a dark sedan tries to run the couple down, it’s clear someone’s after them—but who? Just like in Hammett’s world, nothing is quite what is seems…

I wasn’t ready to read this when it arrived in February as the holidays had been hard. Then I learned the the series had been cancelled by the publisher and felt horrible that I didn’t do as much promotion as I could have. After reading it this past weekend I feel the publisher made a huge mistake publishing it in February. A December or even January release could have changed the sales for this book immensely and could have saved this series from the chopping block.

Comfort food and murder are on the holiday menu in the latest mystery from the national bestselling author of Macaroni and Freeze . . .

All Trixie Matkowski wants for Christmas is a break—just not the broken leg she got after slipping on some ice. With Sandy Harbor alive in the hustle and bustle of the season, it’s the busiest time of the year at Trixie’s Silver Bullet Diner. There are millions of things to do, including cater the town’s annual Christmas pageant and community dinner with some delicious holiday comfort food.

But the festivities turn into a bit of a turkey after Liz Fellows, the director of the pageant, is found with Trixie’s butcher knife in her back. Now Trixie must help the police arrest the scary gentleman—or lady—guilty of the crime if she hopes to get herself off the naughty list.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

This book is set at Christmas time in Sandy Harbor, but I read this book at the perfect time for me. I needed to laugh and laugh hard and Christine Wenger delivered just the right package to allow me to do just that.

Trixie Matkowski loves Christmas, the decorating, the food and the traditions. She has rituals she follows every year. This year just as she is getting read to start her decorating routine. she falls and falls hard on the ice. Instead of hanging all the bright and shiny holiday things, she is in the blinding light of the emergency room getting a huge cast on her leg.

Her friends Antoinette Chloe Brown (ACB) and Deputy Ty Brisco call in reinforcements to not only handle the decorating but Trixie’s Silver Bullet Diner and all the catering jobs she has scheduled. Everything seems to be under control until Christmas Pageant Director Liz Fellows is found in the church kitchen with Trixie’s knife in her back. At least the fine deputy doesn’t suspect Trixie but he knows a pair of crutches isn’t going to keep her from meddling in his investigation.

Hilarity ensues in this fantastic addition to this series. I found myself reading out loud several passages to anyone that would listen. When Trixie and ACB make up their mind to do something, snow, wind, or a measly broken leg will not stop them from doing exactly what Ty told them not to do.

This story is my favorite one in this series. The plot was not only full of surprising mystery twists it brings us many surprising characters. It also brings a moment that I have been waiting  for since book one!

I loved, loved, LOVED! this story! I cannot believe the publisher pulled the plug on this series. The characters are fabulous, the mysteries are fun and well developed. Sandy Harbor is the perfect small town. Please Christine, don’t leave us hanging! I hope you have the option to self publish more in this series or find a new publisher to see what a treasure they are.

You can read Christmas stories any time of year, winter, summer, spring or fall. And you will fall hard for the characters and want to read all 5 of these books. Then you will be with me hoping and praying for book #6!!

I am thrilled to welcome Peg Cochran back to Escape With Dollycas today!
Her new Farmer’s Daughter Mystery, No Farm, No Foul was released this month!

Question and Answer with Peg Cochran, Cozy Mystery Author
(Post Provided by Publicist)

Before a book comes out, authors are asked to write blogs to help promote their book. We are grateful for the cozy reviewers and bloggers who help us get the word out about a new release! For this blog, I decided to do something different so I asked people who follow me on Facebook for questions they’d like answered. Here you go!

Did you grow up on a farm? If not, what inspired you to write about a farm?

I grew up in a suburb in NJ, 25 miles from NYC. That area is now densely populated, but when I was growing up, that wasn’t the case. My grandparents lived only a couple of miles away and down the street from them was a farm where they had horses, pigs and chickens. My grandparents had a huge “yard” and grew tomatoes, strawberries, blackberries and grapes for the wine my grandfather pressed himself.

About a mile or two from my house there was a small farm where they grew corn and a farm stand where you could buy the best Jersey corn ever!

The idea for the Farmer’s Daughter came from my agent and the premise intrigued me. I fleshed it out with character, a setting and a plot.

Do your characters ever influence you to take a different direction than where you intended to go? Or do you have a theme in mind and stick to the plan.

My characters usually allow me to stick to what I’ve planned. What does happen are those serendipitous brainstorms where all of a sudden a bunch of random dots become connected to each other—like where you have two unrelated characters but then you realize that character A is actually character B’s mother but neither knows it and that impacts the story and ties everything together. When that happens I jump out of my chair and run around the room pumping my fists in the air!

How much work was the research on this series? What did you do?

I love research so I don’t really consider it work. I did a lot of reading—books and on-line and I was still constantly looking things up—how much does a bag of chicken feed cost, what kind of chickens are the best for laying eggs—things like that.

How do you come up with your character?

I honestly don’t know. It’s a mysterious process and I try not to over-analyze it! I usually start with some personality characteristics and then move on to deciding what a person like that would look like.

When you are not writing, what do you like to read?

I read mysteries as well as suspense. The books on my Kindle are pretty diverse from current bestsellers to Mary Higgins Clark to classic Agatha Christie and Patricia Wentworth along with a smattering of women’s fiction.

Are there certain farm animals that inspired a farm themed series?

Not really, no. But I couldn’t write a book without a couple of pets—in this case a Jenkins, a Westhighland white terrier, Bitsy, a mastiff and a calico cat named Patches!

~Peg

About The Author

Mystery writing lets Peg indulge her curiosity under the guise of “work” (aka research). As a kid, she read the entire set of children’s encyclopedias her parents gave her and has been known to read the dictionary. She put pen to paper at age seven when she wrote plays and forced her cousins to perform them at Christmas dinner. She switched to mysteries when she discovered the perfect hiding place for a body down the street from her house.

When she’s not writing, she spends her time reading, cooking, spoiling her granddaughter and checking her book’s stats on Amazon.

A former Jersey girl, Peg now resides in Michigan with her husband and Westhighland white terrier, Reg. She is the author of the Sweet Nothings Lingerie series (written as Meg London), the Gourmet De-Lite series, the Lucille series and now the Cranberry Cove series. Her newest series, the Farmer’s Daughter, debuts with No Farm, No Foul is now available.

First in the Farmer’s Daughter mystery series set on a picturesque farm in Michigan, where Shelby McDonald runs a popular lifestyle and cooking blog, from the national bestselling author of the Cranberry Cove Mysteries.

On her blog, The Farmer’s Daughter, Shelby McDonald is growing her audience as she posts recipes, gardening tips, and her experiences raising two kids and running Love Blossom Farm in the small western Michigan town of Lovett.

Working the farm is demanding but peaceful—until that peace is shattered when the minister’s wife is murdered on Shelby’s property during a fund-raiser for a local church. But the manure really hits the fan when Shelby’s good friend veterinarian Kelly Thacker emerges as the prime suspect. Shelby decides to dig in and find the murderer by herself. As more suspects crop up, she’ll have to move fast—before someone else buys the farm. . . .

INCLUDES DELICIOUS RECIPES

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Shelby McDonald has a farm, ee-I-ee-I-o, 🙂 and she also has a blog, The Farmer’s Daughter, where she posts about her life along with recipes and gardening advice and tips and also about this murder investigation she finds herself in the middle of. I liked it because in a way it is like she is talking directly to us readers, but she scares me a bit because she shares way more than we bloggers are cautioned about, like her children and her suspicions regarding a murderer still on the loose. Thankfully the only murders I post about on my blog are fictional.

Shelby’s hosts a church potluck/fundraiser on her Love Blossom Farm but as things are wrapping up she finds Prudence, the minister’s wife dead. She quickly realizes there was a killer on her property and it could be someone she knows quite well. Many suspect seeds are planted in her mind by her own observations and things her friends have said. Will she by able to harvest the right one before someone else is pushing up carrots?

This is an outstanding start for this series.

Shelby comes across realistically dealing with her farm and the produce and products she sells. She is also dealing with 2 children, a adventurous boy and an about to be thirteen year old daughter whose favorite word is “fine”. I remember those days and with 2 daughters I survived that phase twice. She is super friendly to everyone and has a lot going on in her life.

The Love Blossom Farm located just outside Lovett, Michigan sounds like a place I would not only love to visit but love to live. Years ago, it was a dream to live on a farm, not with cows or pigs etc. but growing fruits and veggies and having a few chickens with plenty of wide open spaces for children to play and dogs and cats to roam, much like Shelby’s. It just never worked out for me so these fictional visits will have to  do for me.

Peg Cochran also gives us a fruitful mystery where the suspects seem to be multiplying. Before she can eliminate one, something sends her mind toward a different person. There was one clue that stuck in my mind but I just couldn’t seem to make it fit until Shelby and I shared that “a-ha moment”.

This story was a delightful read. The mystery kept me guessing and the characters were fantastically written. Shelby being a blogger like me was a bonus. She recommends food and recipes and I review and recommend books that usually include  food and recipes. 🙂

Don’t you just love serendipity?

Several years ago my husband and I were looking for a summer place near the water. I had no idea that our search would lead to a new series and a love of historical mystery writing. After looking at places all over the state of Maine we found the perfect spot in Old Orchard Beach. We spent that first summer renovating the house and basking on the beach. By the end of the first month we were utterly charmed.

After all, what’s not to love about seven miles of sandy beach and the last remaining seaside amusement park in New England? But while the kids were building sand castles and perfecting their body surfing technique, I found myself visiting the Harmon Historical Museum and buying antique post cards at Cottage Decor. Slowly, but surely, the history of Old Orchard worked its way into my affections and on my imagination.

whispers-beyond-veilI was intrigued to discover our property used to be part of a Methodist campground. While it now has different owners, the natural amphitheater they used for sermons and speakers is still in operation just up the street from our house.

I learned about the different incarnations the town had experienced. In the Victorian era it hosted wealthy families for the entire season at the grand hotels like The Hotel Velvet as well as day-tripping mill girls from neighboring Biddeford.

By the early 1900s Grand Beach was popular with early auto racers as well as pioneering pilots attempting the first trans-continental flights. A few years later the big band era and dance marathons drew the crowds. Soldiers returning from WWII brought their families in droves throughout the middle of the twentieth century.

It was inevitable, I suppose, that all that information would work its magic on the story-telling part of my brain. Before I knew it, I started imagining the buildings and vehicles and amusements from the past still lining the streets. Then, of course, the buildings filled with imaginary people with all their intrigues and peculiarities.

Before long, the influence of Old Orchard had concocted Ruby Proulx, the protagonist for my latest book, Whispers Beyond the Veil. The Gilded Age hotel where she lives and works, her friends and family all invented themselves as I walked along the sand or imagined a trolley car trundling down the street beside me as I strolled to the shops. Reasons for murder and mayhem swooped into my brain like marauding seagulls making a play for picnic lunches.

Just like that, an historical mystery had snuck up on me. I had never intended to turn my hand to historical writing but thanks to a little serendipity it had.

Canada, 1898. The only life Ruby Proulx has ever known is that of a nomad, traveling across the country with her snake-oil salesman father. She dreams of taking root somewhere, someday, but, until she can, she makes her way by reading tarot cards. Yet she never imagined her own life would take such a turn…

After one of her father’s medical “miracles” goes deadly wrong, Ruby evades authorities by hiding in the seaside resort town of Old Orchard, Maine, where her estranged aunt, Honoria, owns the Hotel Belden, a unique residence that caters to Spiritualists—a place where Ruby should be safe as long as she can keep her dark secret hidden.

But Ruby’s plan begins to crumble after a psychic investigator checks into the hotel and senses Ruby is hiding more than she’s letting on. Now Ruby must do what she can to escape both his attention and Aunt Honoria’s insistence that she has a true gift, before she loses her precious new home and family forever…

Wedding bells are ringing for Meg and Seth in the latest Orchard Mystery from the New York Times bestselling author of Picked to Die

The fall harvest may be just about over, but orchard owner Meg Corey is busier than ever planning her wedding to Seth Chapin. Who knew picking apples would be less work than picking out rings and a dress? And even though the happy couple has invited most of Granford, Massachusetts, to the ceremony, they might have to make room for one more guest…

Ex-con Aaron Eastman has unexpectedly reappeared in his hometown, searching for answers to the tragic fire in his family’s past that put him behind bars twenty-five years ago. Moved by his sincerity, Meg vows to do everything she can to help him solve the cold case. As she cobbles together the clues, it becomes increasingly clear that Aaron may have been considered the bad seed of the family, but someone else was one bad apple…

Includes Delicious Recipes!

Dollycas’s Thoughts

I have loved this series from the start and absolutely think this one has the best cover so far. Yes, those are alpacas!

Almost all the apples have been picked and it is time for Meg and Seth to get into high gear for their upcoming nuptials, but when Aaron Eastman comes to town Meg is drawn into his story like a moth to a flame. Oh and Seth decides to overall the plumbing and add two bathrooms and update the existing one. At least he is on hand if Meg needs any help.

The plot to this one was different and interesting as Meg tries to solve a mystery from the past and reunite what it left of a family and give them some closure. I was ready for the expected twist and thought I knew what had happened and I was partially right but I picked the wrong bad apple.

I did enjoy the mystery and the way Meg, Seth, their family and friends all worked together to solve it, but was left just a little disappointed that the Gala, the Wedding, the Big Event was lost until the final chapter. Meg and Seth were just so low key about the whole thing, Meg hadn’t even picked out a dress and the reception planning was so last minute. I felt I was looking more forward to the wedding than the bride and groom. I understand this is a mystery novel not a romance novel and the author has to find balance, but with a title A Gala Event, I was hoping for a little more GALA.

Now don’t get me wrong, the mystery was well plotted and the story was very well written and I did enjoy it. The visiting alpacas were so funny, especially Meg’s first reaction. So it did have everything that usually makes for a perfect escape, if it just had a few more wedding elements then it would be perfect.

I am excited for the next book, Seeds of Deception, out next month to see how they start their married life together and what kind of trouble they get involved in next.

enjoyable 2016

Out of the (Supply) Closet

(Post received from publicist)

Hello. My name is Nancy Haddock, and I have an office supply problem.

What’s that got to do with writing, you ask? Read on, dear hearts.

I’d like to trace my addiction to my children’s school days. Yes, folks, there was a time when open-all-night stores did not exist. Once too often, my children informed me they needed a particular kind of folder, poster board, or pen at 11 pm. When every retailer had closed.

While I managed not to go “Mommy Dearest” on my munchkins, I did retaliate by binge shopping school supply sales. I had four or more folders in every color. With and without pockets, with and without brads. I had lined paper, plain paper, graph paper, and yes, even carbon paper for those pesky tracing projects.

paint-the-town-deadI bought spiral notebooks in every conceivable color, some with pockets, some 3- and 5- subject thick. I mastered the art of stacking 3-ring binders, again in multiple colors, and naturally in multiple thicknesses from ½ inch to 3 inches.

Need poster board in any color of the rainbow? Crayons? Art pencils? Black, blue, red, or green ink pens? I’m telling you, I had all that and more. Tape, liquid and stick glue, display boards, sticky notes, and the ever popular rulers. It got to the point where other mothers would call me in a panic for a supply fix. While I refrained from meeting them under a bridge to pass off the goods, I had to keep mum so their children would believe their parents were magical.

I’m getting to the writing part.

So there I am with a walk-in closet, a wall of floor to ceiling built-in shelves, all dedicated to school supplies. But wait. I can use some of these dandy items! The folders work just as well for my works-in-progress notes as they do for my kiddo’s school papers. The pens, pencils, binders are, of course, useful for my writing needs. If the children can’t use the yuck-yellow poster board, I’ll overlook the color and use it for a visualization board.

And don’t get me started on the sticky notes and index cards! There’s a whole sticky note story I’m almost embarrassed to share.

basket case

Fast forward to the kids being in college. So maybe I’m not hoarding poster board any longer, but the habit of buying—and over-buying—school supplies is established. Except now I call them office supplies.

I mean, really. Can a writer have too many notebooks? The multi-subject kind are great for notetaking at local conferences. They keep the topics nicely separated, don’t you know. Then there are the single-subject spirals so useful for travel because they are lighter and less bulky. Naturally, we can’t forget the small notebooks, suitable for tucking into one’s purse and keeping in the car.

Then there is printer paper. Come on. Office supply stores run sales on cases every week. They need me to have oodles. And who can pick up plain white paper without adding at least a few packages of color paper—and hanging folders to color code one’s files. I my favorite shades and add them to the pile in the closet. With the coordinating file tabs, thank you very much.

Now we fast forward again. I’m moving from Texas to Florida, and I have to pack everything in about two months. Yikes! Sure we were having a giant garage/ estate sale to unload a huge amount of stuff, but my writer friends come to the rescue. They get first dibs on my treasures. Some took the books I could part with (yes, I had to be sedated for that), and they also had first shot at the office supplies.

The first friend who showed up still had young children at home. I donated bags of school supplies to her. The second friend who came by shook her head and I swear she was ready to call the men in white coats on me. But, hey, everything went to a good home.

Okay, I kept a lot of the sticky notes. I kept so many that years later my daughter called for a favor. She had begun landing art department jobs in the TV and film industry, and she needed inspiration for a writer’s office. She asked me to take photos of my writing space. Which was pretty much papered with sticky notes. And it still is.

So I have a problem. At least I don’t need a whole closet for my stash anymore. Just a few dozen drawers.

Thanks for your kind attention and understanding. I have to dash off now. It’s school supply sales time again!

From the national bestselling author of Basket Case comes the second mystery starring the crafty and cantankerous Silver Six.

Leslee Stanton Nix—aka “Nixy”—thought moving to small-town Lilyvale, Arkansas, would be about as thrilling as watching paint dry. But keeping up with her retired Aunt Sherry and her troublemaking housemates—collectively known as the Silver Six—has proven to be as exciting as it is exasperating.

To kick off the grand opening of their craft shop, the Handcraft Emporium, Nixy and the Silver Six invite Doralee Gordon to teach a gourd painting class. Doralee’s spirit gets squashed when her ex-husband crashes the class with his new fiancée, but things really get messy when the bride-to-be later turns up dead. Now it’s up to Nixy and the Silver Six to use their melons to find the killer—before someone else gets painted out of the picture…

Dollycas’s Thoughts

The Handcraft Emporium is all ready to open and The Silver Six, Ms. Sherry, Dwight Aloysius Baxter, Maisie Holcomb and her sister Aster Parsons, Eleanor Wainwright and Fred Fishner. With Nixy’s help have several classes planned to draw in the customers. The first class is a gourd painting class and they invite Doralee Gordon to show off her talents. Things get a little heated when Doralee’s ex shows up with his sister and fiancée, to take the class and try to make Doralee very uncomfortable.  When the fiancée is found dead the next day and Doralee becomes a suspect The Silver Six are all excited to solve another crime. This may not be good for Nixy’s new relationship with Detective Eric Shoar, but the man seems to have the patience of a saint.

Nancy Haddock has written a wonderful mystery the immediately draws the reader in. I was surprised by the title change. The teaser chapter in the last book, Basket Case, said it was to be GOODBYE GOURDEOUS, while Paint the Town Dead works, I liked the first title better. The cover is GOURDEOUS and the mystery is delightful. Several twists and moments that had me giggle and a couple that has me laughing out loud. This story was a real treat.

I enjoy every one of these characters, they continue to surprise and make us see age is just a number. They are continually on the go.  I wish I had half their energy. They do get their noses out of joint when they think Nixy and Eric are investigating without them. But the things are quickly back in place.

As for the new characters, Kim, the fiancée, is a greedy little witch trying to reel in husband #3. The perfect victim and the deeper the Six dug the more suspects they found. I almost felt sorry for Ernie, the ex, almost!. We also have T.C. and Amber, a dog and a cat, that were found in the alley behind the emporium. They quickly worm their way into everyone’s hearts, including mine.

This story checks all the cozy boxes, unique small town, colorful characters, an intriguing mystery to solve, a bit of romance and a bunch of humor.

As the temps get cooler, snuggle up in a blanket and get comfy with this cozy.
