I thought I should let you all know why Escape With Dollycas or Dollycas’s Thoughts Part II is now on WordPress with a new name but the same Dollycas.
It seems I posted something on a forum for Google’s Blogger (my old host site) that angered the Google gods so much that they completely shutdown all the Google products I was using including not only my blog, but my email, my calendar, my forms and spreadsheets and even the Google Map I was using for my 50 State Challenge.
This means that no one can see my history of posts that I had created since I started blogging on December 31, 2009. My husband and I spent yesterday begging Google to reactivate my accounts and me basically turning into a lump of Jello. My husband reached out to the person I credit for getting me engrossed in this bloggy world to begin with and she made a really good point, it was the blogging I loved and the friends I made and that they would find me again.
So today, I picked myself up, brushed myself off, and left my comfort zone and have started over here. There are a lot of things I need to work out yet so please bear with me. Any giveaways in progress will have to be restarted and hope to have that figured out soon.
Most important is Jennie Bentley’s Guest Post and my first Cozy Wednesday this week on this new site. It will have a very special giveaway. I may need to go back to the email/comment way until I set something new up, but just like the old Dollycas’s Thoughts, your Escape With A Good Book Travel Agent is still on the job. There will be Book Reviews, Recommendations, Random Thoughts and Giveaways, lots of Giveaways.
Please pass the word of the new name Escape With Dollycas Into A Good Book and the new address http://escapewithdollycas.wordpress.com/ and let them know I am still here!!!!
Thank You!
Love the sunset! Keep up the good work!
I enjoy your blog so much, I am glad that you are restarting here 🙂 A great option for giveaways is Rafflecopter. You would need an invite as it is Beta, but I believe I could send you one. They are super simple to use and make choosing winners very easy!
Christine, Please send me one. I had an invite on the old email. dollycas@hotmail.com is the new one. Thank you so much!
Ahhh…that’s why my email to you keeps coming back. Lori, that is awful. If you can remember which books you reviewed, put their names in google, then when you see your site come up, hit “cache” and you’ll be able to at least copy from that. You have to hurry though before even they go off the web. BTW, I’m emailing you at your new email address about a book. What a pain blogger is.
So sorry to hear about the door being closed, but always remember that with every door that is closed another one is opened. I’m wishing you much success from fellow blogger that understands the work that goes into media reviews.
Steve
Thank you Steve!!
I also love the sunset! I signed up and will be getting your posts. 🙂 Good luck with the new blog!
thank you everyone, scary day!!
I am still just baffled about what happened…. was it a glitch? Thats just spooky… I keep stuff in google docs as well.
Glad to see you being such a trooper and just starting from scratch…. nothing liek a new paint job to bring out the beauty! 🙂
I guess I was too vocal in a forum about the Amazon gadget, wrote something they didn’t like but it was nicer than what people above me wrote, lol
Glad to hear everything’s ok! Great to see you on wordpress, it looks nice!
Love your new blog! I can’t believe what happened to your last one and I don’t get it, but I’m glad to see you here. My cozy blog is with WordPress too. It takes some getting used to but I like it.
Oh my gosh. That is scary to have your blog, all your information and email taken away. That is kind of extreme. The new blog looks great and I will be following along! I know you are heartsick but you will be back to full speed in no time!
Wow I didn’t even know they could do that. How awful for you. Well for me this site works much better. I was having serious problems with my IE since your site got hacked into that one time. It would kick me off so I had to download firefox so I could get on. I love the sunset too. Very pretty. Glad you still decided to blog. Yours is my favorite.

I like your new look, and no problem I found you. I updated you on my blogroll of bookies I follow.
Good grief, Lori! I hope you get everything set back up at your new blog. I’ve been a follower for a long, long time.
Thank you everyone!!!! Couldn’t relax tonight. I want everything to be just right. My daughter just said, go to bed mom, I promise this one won’t disappear in the night like the other one. From her mouth to God’s ears. Goodnight my friends. I will be back in the morning. 🙂
I’m glad I signed up for the Just for fun challenge so I got the email about the unexpected move. Wow so sorry to hear. It’s horrible thing to happen but who knows you may love it on wordpress. I hope this works out better for you in the end.
I am so glad you found me too! I wish I would have had emails for all my followers backed up. Hopefully they will find me too.
Thanks for dusting yourself off and starting again. Not such an easy task. You are a resilient Dollycas and I for one am glad!!!!
thanks!
Lori, I was shocked to hear what happened!! I use my own self-hosted wordpress site, so I’ve gotten acquainted with it the last 6 months or so. If I can be of help from a technical standpoint, please don’t hesitate to e-mail me at js1997 AT gmail DOT com. I’d be happy to help!! I’m so glad that you didn’t let them get you down and are starting anew!! Way to go!!!
I thought of this verse when I read your post, I hope you don’t mind me sharing! 🙂
“I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:14, NIV)
Jennifer (Crazy-for-Books)
Jennifer, Thank you for sharing, you made me cry. One of the best things about WordPress is being able to reply easily to each comment. I have been doing a lot of praying the past few days and believe me I know the strength was coming from above.
I may be contacting you as I learn all about this new place!!
Wow. Makes me think I better go print out all my past blogs from Blogger…just in case. Hang in there! 🙂
I would backup everything. My biggest loss what my email contact list, don’t forget to back that up too!
Wow.. this scares me to death to hear, and I feel so sorry for you! I’m glad you’re not giving up blogging – and I am more happy than ever the choice I made to move to WordPress! I really recommend you start with WordPress.org instead of com though – you’ll have so much more freedom on .org and even though you pay a small fee each month to have your site hosted, you get it back ten fold with increased ways to gain followers (like you can have the GFC widget) and many other things. My friends and I have all moved from blogger to WordPress using Tiger Tech hosting and they are the best ever! Email me if you have questions, my friend Bex (over at Kindle Fever) helped us all move – but since you are starting over you wouldn’t have to go through the steps of moving from blogger to WordPress.org.
Best of luck! my email if you’re interested is: myshelfconfessions at gmail dot com
All best!

I definitely understand spending a bunch of money and then not getting anything back from it, that has to suck. I didn’t think about them blocking the GFC widget too, but I guess that makes sense. Wow, you never really know how entrenched you are with google until their services are taken away do you? I think they owe their for lack of a better word “customers” some sort of explanation for when they make these radical decisions – that REALLY have an effect on our lives. When we use their services, we should expect to at least receive a modicum of decency on their part. They want to be the “big boys” on the internet they also need to honor the responsibility that comes with that position. So far, they are sadly lacking. Their help forums are a joke. I use gmail and several other google services but .. more and more I’m thinking of alternatives, especially when I hear of situations like yours happening with more frequency.
I was scared when I moved to WordPress.org from blogger that it’d require a lot more knowledge of HTML but really it doesn’t! So other than financial issues, don’t let the HTML stuff stop you! And you can always get help from us WPers 😉 The fun thing about .org is that there are so many great plugins that you can literally just download and have it do awesome things for your site – no code knowledge needed. Let me know if/when you’re ready to move and I’ll be here to help! 🙂
I also tweeted your new URL to my followers, I hope people see it and pass it on and that everyone can find you again.
Found you Lori,
Will follow via fb from now on.

Yikes! That’s scary! I rely on google for quite a bit of my stuff, but I do prefer wordpress to blogspot. I can’t believe they would shut you down for speaking your mind!
The new blog looks nice! I found your new spot from goodreads because I wanted to read the Jennie Bentley post and was confused why your old site was gone!
