The Sunday Salon used to be a meme but was getting so huge it became unmanageable, so it is now a Facebook group that has become an informal week in review
gathering place for bloggers.
It is also a place to share our thoughts about things of a bookish nature.
So Happy Sunday Everyone!
My granddaughter was baptized last Sunday so I was away from the computer most of the day. I hope to have a picture to post soon.
The heat has subsided here a bit but we still need rain badly. A quick shower passed through yesterday about 7 a.m. but much more is needed. Our grass is brown and all the crops in the fields look awful. The drought in Southern Wisconsin has officially been classified as severe. The area farmers are really feeling the pain. The are feeding their livestock like it is winter because the pastures are dying. The corn crop is in jeopardy as well. The normal summer treat of fresh sweet corn is just not available unless you want to pay the high prices in the grocery store for corn that has been trucked in from elsewhere. We had a mild winter with hardly any snow and now a summer with hardly any rain. Water restrictions are in place all over and there are even wells going dry. We are over 6 inches of rain behind what is normal for this time of year. Mother Nature is definitely testing us.
Now let’s talk books! Here’s my blog week:
Monday means the normal memes. Monday’s Music Moves Me! and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
On Tuesday I reviewed My Father at 100: A Memoir by Ron Reagan. I think the author learned a lot about his father writing this book and it was an interesting read.
For Cozy Wednesday this week I featured Pies and Prejudice (A Charmed Pie Shoppe Mystery) by Ellery Adams. This is a brand new series and I am giving 2 copies away.
Thursday I hosted the Virtual Book Tour for Lost Girls by Caitlin Rother. I didn’t know much about this story or that the book was causing such an uproar because the family did not authorize its publication.
Friday I reviewed Murder on the Half Shelf (A Booktown Mystery) by Lorna Barrett. This is the first book in this series to come out in hardcover.
Saturday I reviewed The Wicked Wives by Gus Pelagatti. The book is based on a true story from the 1930’s.
I always love this week. Most of the cozies coming out in August have arrived!!
Plus some other books I Can’t Wait To Read.
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Saw this on Facebook this week and it just cracked me up!
Happy Reading!!!
Can’t wait to see the latest pictures of Natalie. And now that Mark is engaged, just MAYBE, I will have one too lol.
I hope so Cheryl!! Being a grandma is awesome.
Oh, what a wonderful week you’ve had. Enjoy the baby and your books…and here’s MY SUNDAY SALON POST
Bring a grandma is the best job ever!
Would love to see pics of the baby!! Sorry your weather is so dry. We’re in our rainy season, and I wish I could send some of it your way!
I wish you could bottle it up and send it this way, lol
You had a great week! I’m drooling over the August cozies. I haven’t received mine yet. They look so good.
Ditto, Vicki. We are having lovely winter rains here in Australia. Wish we could email you some as we sit huddled around the fire. Looking forward to the pics of your granddaughter. What a blessing to begin life with a true “blessing” of a baptism.
James, Thanks for stopping by!
Great haul! I love your Cozy Wednesdays segment. Happy reading.
