“Stuff” has become so popular, they’ve expanded their franchise to 5 stores in eastern Iowa. Our Iowa City location was the first one & took over the entire former Best Buy Store.
The name Stuff is very appropriate. It has pretty much anything & everything from furniture to clothes, purses, books, kitchen & a great children’s dept.
My daughter & daughter-in-law have found a lot of like new clothes for their 2 year olds ever since they were babies. And they take them back there for resale after they outgrow them.
I really like Stuff for books which range from $2 for paperbacks to $5 for hardcovers. I also buy books & toys to keep at our house for my 2 grandkids. I was excited to find old Corning Ware & also mixing bowls for my Oster Kitchen Center I’ve had 30+ years.
I haven’t found many clothes there for myself except a jacket. They are very fussy about the clothes they take, usually stylish brand names & they can only be 2 yrs. old. They are also geared toward college kids & professional people. I’m too old to wear the low riding jeans they wear these days!
It’s a great place to go just to look around & I can always find a bargain there. I purchased a Stuff bag for $5 so I don’t need an appt. when taking items to sell. I fill it up & take it in for them to sort through while I shop. I think I’ll do that tomorrow!
I love consignment shops, but I never would buy underwear from one. Dee
I just recently learned about a consignment shop near my work called Plato’s closet. I also just found out that they are a chain store as my niece got a job at one in the town she lives in.
I have a touch of ocd and I don’t shop at consignment shops because I can’t handle wearing clothes that belonged to someone I did not know. My daughter has shopped them and enjoys them.
Thank you for the chance to win the book. griperang at embarqmail dot com
Ours is called the Bargain Shop. I shop there on occasion, maybe once every 6 months or so. I have found some good bargains with jeans. I too would never buy underwear from there…ewww!
Thank you for this giveaway!
Blessings!

i have a furniture consignment shop near me, no clothing consignment here yet. I have been there and it is mostly very high end. I would not buy a mattress set from there, just can’t do it.
I apprciate the opportunity to enter the Ied Chffon giveaway once again.i
There are a few around me but without many treasures to be found. My best consignment find was while out with M-I-L, she was looking for a dress for her upcoming cruise- I found my wedding dress….. for $35. It fit perfectly, just had to be hemmed up.
My favorite consignment shop was Twice Upon a Time. This place was a kids consignment store and had some really great deals. They closed their doors recently after 20 years in business. This is very upsetting. My kids are 2 and 4 so this place was a necessity for me. I bought some really great clothes and toys here. The building was in sad shape and needed repairs, but the deals were awesome. I would not buy crib bumpers or shoes from consignment. I am just funny and picky about shoes.
We have no consignment shops in my area, but my daughter in law shops in them down in Lexington Ky, and upstate NY… I’m always amazed at the quality of the clothing she gets. I’d love to have one open somewhere in Brooklyn where I could shop.
Congrats, Nancy, and thanks for playing along. As soon as I get my author copies I’ll send one to you along with a tote.
We don’t take swimsuits or nighties or undies etc at the consignment shop where I work. A lot of things are brand new, tags still on. Great deals. I’d be running around naked if it wasn’t for consignment shopping. LOL
Anyone wanting Iced Chiffon goodies email me at DuffyBrown@DuffyBrown.com with you address and I’ll send off a packet.
Also, I’m getting together a Street Team for Iced Chiffon. If you’d like to get on the team drop me a line and I’ll tell you the particulars.
Thanks!
Duffy
My friend owned one that only had designer clothes. I loved to shop there got some great bargains.
I do not have a consignment shop close by that I do to. I have gone to some in the past. One of the best bargains I found was a suit for $8.00 that lasted for many years and may still be in my closet. I probably would not buy shoes in this type of store because they might not have the correct size.
I usually don’t shop at consignment or charity shops, but after seeing some tips on the Nate Berkus show, I’ve started browsing for furniture and house accessories at our local YMCA, Salvation Army and Goodwill stores. Having grown up wearing hand me downs I won’t ever buy used clothes. Something I vowed never to do once I got my first job.

When ever my cousin is in town we hit every consignment and thrift shop around. I’ve found some good buys. One shop I could almost always find some name brands that I liked and they were like they had never been worn.
Where I live in Hawaii the only consignment shop is a two hour drive to the other side of the island. If there were one close by I would be interested in nice clothes or furniture that. Being in Hawaii it’s sometimes hard to justify consignment prices, they’re almost always way too high.
We have one near us. We don’t shop there. We tried to put some good furniture there for sale and they wanted it for free!!! So we ended up donating it to charity. We did look at a consignment shop for some furniture about three years ago and couldn’t afford anything that we wanted. I hope this is not true for all consignment places. Sigh! I would never buy a used mattress or underwear there. I was desparate once and when both my husband and I were laid off of our jobs at the same time and I wore used clothes that no one would buy at a yard sale.
We live in the middle of nowhere–so no consignment shops any place within a reasonable distance. Darn! When I lived in the big city I used to love to go get bargains at the consignment shops–especially furniture bargains–the old furniture was made so much better than what you can get now.

There is a chain consignment shop kind of near us. I haven’t scored any great things lately, but once, I did find a great end table. I would never buy underwear at a consignment shop!
Oh yes I love going to consignment and second hand stores. I have bought alot of things there. Probaly the only thing I would buy there would be underware. They sure help with kids clothes that I need I have found some good ones. Also childrens books where like 6 – $1 at the store near us. Bought lots of them for the grandson – all in good shape to.
I travel to a pretty good consignment shop approx 30 miles round trip. The owners are new. It is called
“Second Time Around”. I once found a couple of maxi dresses that looked new! I would never buy shoes, underwear or bras from a consignment store. Too personal of an item.
I’ve never shopped at one and don’t know of any nearby. I do donate to ARC and Goodwill but haven’t shopped at either of them although I plan on seeing what they have to offer soon. Would not buy bedding or upholstered furniture.

I like to look at the books that they have. I am surprises that sometimes they have things that I never thought the other book stores around here have like mangas. I love to read them as much as books and its cheap too. I still don’t know about the clothes but I look for wallets and purses if there are any.
We have a great shop called “The Upscale Yard Sale,” and it is fantastic! They mark things down if it has been around for a certain period of time, and every time I go, I find deals. I once found a doll for like .50. Okay, it was old and worn, but it was vintage!
the closest consignment shop near me is in NYC, Margoth Consignment Shop…..& no, i have yet to go there…..hopefully soon!!!!!
about a consignment shop near you.
Do you shop there?
Yes!
Have you found any great bargains?
Yes!
What is the one thing you would never buy from a shop like this?
Sometimes the oddest things are overpriced. That is when I am not interested.
I’m not even sure I know what a consignment shop is. I am assuming a budget franchise. I bought some storage containers very cheap just yesterday.
There are some great consignment shops in our little town and I shop their frequently. The Shop and Save is a little hole in the wall place that has has fantastic prices on dresses for dances, like Homecoming and Prom. My daughters are in heaven.
Thanks for the giveaway!

There is a shop about 45 minutes from me that I have shopped in a few times but didn’t find any bargains. I have shopped at others and found great deals on boots and clothes. I would consider buying anything from them except underwear! Thanks for this amazing giveaway – I would love to win!

Some weeks we must give up a little book time to share time with our families!
Here’s my post: http://www.readerbuzz.blogspot.com.
There are so many consignment shops around here! In one shopping center alone, there are 3. The most popular ones are the ones for kids clothes. There is one in particular, called Children’s Orchard. They sell beautiful, gently worn clothing at a price I can afford! With a daughter who grows like a weed, I appreciate consignment shops more than I could ever say with words!
I’ve found more than a few great bargains at the store. They have designer clothes at a price that just about anyone could afford!
I have visited a few consignment shops over the years, and the worst thing I’ve ever found at one – unpackaged underwear. Now, I’m sorry, but buying someone’s used or appears to be used underwear is something that I just cannot do!
Thanks for the awesome giveaways! 🙂
I have several consignment shops near me. They are all wonderful. I love Oz Consignment and Echos and Accents. I probably wouldn’t buy bathing suits or undergarments.
