I am so excited to welcome LynDee Walker and her Great Escapes Book Tour here today!!
Thanks so much for having me on today, Lori! I’m excited to be here!
1. What was your inspiration for the Headlines in High Heels Mysteries?
The inspiration to write them came from a love of writing, and from missing doing it on a daily basis for a number of years while I juggled my oldest two children.
The inspiration for the stories themselves comes from everywhere. Some of what Nichelle does is inspired by stories I covered as a working reporter, some by current headlines, and some of it just pops into my head from nowhere.
2. When did you know that you wanted to become an author?
I wanted to be a writer ever since I can remember, but until I became a mom, journalism was always the focus of my dream. After I had children, I discovered I couldn’t go back to the newsroom for a myriad of reasons, including long hours and emotionally draining work.
I think I went without writing for as long as I possibly could—about four and a half years—but once I started writing about Nichelle, I found a new dream. That’s when I decided I wanted to be an author. And this year, becoming a published author has been a amazing dream come true.
3. What authors do you enjoy?
There are so many! I am a book nerd, and to list all my favorite authors would take way too much space. Laura Levine, Harley Jane Kozak, Stephen King, Agatha Christie, and Harlan Coben are a few of my all-time favorites. I’ve been reading a lot of southern literature lately, and Joshilyn Jackson, Claire Cook, and Gretchen Archer are all on my favorites list.
4. What are reading for fun right now?
I scored an early ARC of Hijack in Abstract (A Cherry Tucker Mystery) by Larissa Reinhart, and I’m loving it! It’ll be on sale Nov. 5.
5. If money was no object and you could escape to anywhere in the world to write where would you go and what do you think the book would be about?
A quiet beach in Australia with surfing, cabana boys, and lots of frosty drinks. And knowing me, I’d write about someone getting murdered at a resort where Nichelle was honeymooning in Australia.
I reviewed LynDee’s first book in the Headlines in Heels Mystery Series, Front Page Fatality on Tuesday. I then jumped right into Buried Leads. If I wouldn’t have started Great Escapes Book Tours I may not have ever “met” LynDee or found these wonderful stories. Thank you LynDee for stopping by today!!!

When an Armani-clad corpse turns up in the woods, crime reporter Nichelle Clarke smells a scoop. A little digging, and Nichelle uncovers a web of corruption that stretches all the way to Washington, D.C. Politics. Murder. And a dead lobbyist. It’s everything Nichelle’s ever dreamed of.
The cops are playing it close, the feds even closer, and Nichelle’s afraid her boss will assign the story to the political desk any day. Richmond’s new ATF SuperCop makes an arrest before she can say “Louboutin,” but Nichelle’s gut says he’s got the wrong guy.
Her sexy Mafia boss friend warns her off the case, her TV rival is hot on her designer heels, an ambitious copy editor wants her beat, and victims are piling up faster than she can track them down. As Nichelle zeroes in on the truth, it’ll take some fancy footwork to nab this headline before the killer nabs her.
Dollycas’s Thoughts
She did it again. I started reading and just couldn’t stop. The rest of the world just fell away as I chased down the clues with Nichelle.
She is juggling at least 4 headlines for the Richmond Telegraph while trying to keep a co-worker who is sleeping with the managing editor from stealing her job and still scoop a television reporter. Her ex has shown up in town as the area’s newest ATF agent and wants them to give their relationship another chance. But her new “friend” Joey has plans of his own romantically speaking and his contacts in the criminal world have him doing everything he can to keep her safe. Nichelle’s police contacts are telling her nothing. Then her investigation shows a couple of her stories seem to be connected, it is time for her inner Lois Lane to shine as she plans to scoop everyone unless someone scoops her up first.
This is fast paced with fantastic characters, the supporting ones are really growing too! There is political corruption, murder, mayhem, bullets flying, romantic tension, and a tough heroine in high heels. Hang on tight! Lyndee Walker takes us on us a wild ride with a few surprises and even a couple laugh out loud moments. She is definitely an author to keeps our eyes on! She has DATELINE MEMPHIS (novella after BURIED LEADS in Heartache Motel) on sale Dec 2013 and SMALL TOWN SPIN (#3) on sale Spring 2014. I have already both to my wish list!!
About This Author
LynDee Walker grew up in the land of stifling heat and amazing food most people call Texas, and wanted to be Lois Lane from the time she could say the words “press conference.” An award-winning journalist, she traded cops and deadlines for burp cloths and onesies when her oldest child was born. Writing the Headlines in Heels mysteries gives her the best of both worlds. Her debut novel, Front Page Fatality (A Nichelle Clarke Headlines in Heels Mystery), is an amazon new humor #1 bestseller. LynDee adores her family, her readers, and enchiladas. She often works out tricky plot points while walking off the enchiladas. She lives in Richmond, Virginia, where she is working on her next novel. You can visit her online at www.lyndeewalker.com.
