BIG BLOGOVERSARY BLOWOUT BOX OF BOOKS!

BLOGOVERSARY 2014Back on December 31, 2009 my New Year’s Resolution was to start a blog. I had no idea what I was doing but Lori at Lori’s Reading Corner is a fantastic friend and she guided me along and got me started. At first I was just posting reviews of books I purchased or received from PaperBackSwap and random thoughts, then I moved on to some self-published authors,  but soon with Lori’s help I was able “meet” a couple of publicists and was receiving books faster than I could read them.  Dollycas’s Thoughts evolved into Escape With Dollycas Into A Good Book in October of 2011. Now my main focus is mysteries but I do read most genres with the exception of Horror and Sci-Fi. Those just give me nightmares. Cozy mysteries are my absolute favorites.

I also was getting to know my UPS man very well as he was bring packages to my door several times a week. At one point he thought maybe I had on online shopping problem and may need an intervention but when I explained what they were and what I was doing we had a good laugh. He also delivered to the place I worked before my accident so we did know each other a little bit. He was quite worried about me and was shocked when I came to the door one day when he was making a delivery. He had heard the dismal first prognosis and was so happy to see how well I was doing. Sadly since our move 18 months ago I no longer have him making my deliveries but he did give our new delivery person a heads up so he knew he be making plenty of stops at our house.

Now I look forward to the books arriving each month and sharing my thoughts about them with you and sharing the books themselves with you too. My blog is now mostly about books but I do share some family stuff and still a few of random thoughts here and there too. I look forward to getting up every day and reading your comments. I wish I had time to respond to every one but please know I do read every single one.

I have grabbed a pretty good size box and all the books shown in the graphic above are in the box ready to be sent to you. There is still room so I will add a couple of hardcovers, more paperbacks and just a bit of swag to fill the box. One winner will receive the box. Sorry U.S. Mailing Addresses Only.

  2. This is great. After I read them, I give books I win to the Library or the Friends of the Library. Now a new place has come to my notice for YA books that the library can’t use – high schoolers learning how to read!

  3. I started out just finding books on Goodreads but the reviews were not very good. Somehow I found Lori’s reading corner which lead me to you. I love the interview type of review. I find out more about the characters ,storyline and author here. I have been lucky to have won a couple of books as well. This giveaway is wonderful. My books are gifts that keep on giving.   18. I applaud you for the way you are controlling the takeover of books in your house. I recently updated from Book Tracker to “Book Collector” (collectorz.com) and have now reached 1227 books on this interactive program. The books that I’ve decided not to keep, mostly new unread ones I donated to a local library that puts them immediately into circulation.

    The majority of my newest books are cozies, and paranormal cozies. My sci fi collection goes back to the 1950’s and 60’s.

    I hope I’m your lucky winner since I can guarantee them a good home.

    I remember when I was working that we got to be friendly with our UPS drivers, too.
    Most of the books I get to review come USPS now and our carrier jams them into my too small box. Visiting you has given me the idea that maybe someday I could write great reviews like you do, or at least read as many wonderful books.

  44. Great giveaway and I agree skip the sci-fi and thriller/horror genre. I love a mystery and I am new to calling them cozy but that really does describe the mysteries that I like to read.
