I was absolutely floored this week when I
read this post on Nancy Martin’s Author Page on Facebook!

When is the next Blackbird book coming out? Yes, I’ve been dodging the question, and I feel it’s time to tell you the whole story. Thing is? There isn’t one coming in the near future. To begin with, my editor was down-sized, and anyone who knows anything about the publishing biz will tell you that being orphaned is difficult to overcome. My editor helped me create the Blackbirds, and her steady input has been part of the success we enjoyed. I’m very sad to see her go. But the hits kept coming. As some of you know, it’s been a rough year at Casa Martin. We had a death in the family, and then I was in the hospital for my ongoing heart issue when—totally out of the blue–a CT scan discovered a tumor in my stomach. Last month I had some surgery to remove it, and today—trumpet fanfare, please!–I got the good news that I don’t need chemo. It was one of those lucky/unlucky things, but now I’m good to go, and I hope you’ll celebrate the no-chemo with me tonight. I can finally get back to writing. But without my editor…..it’s probably time for me to re-invent myself. I have a new–and totally different–book coming out in November, which I hope you’ll enjoy. And after that, I’ll have a Blackbird e-book to share with you. (Because, after all, you’ll want to hear about the birth of the babies.) But then I’ll probably try writing something new and fun and different and as entertaining as I can possibly make it. It’s scary and exciting to set off on a new venture like this, but I bet I have your support and good wishes. I so appreciate all your kind comments here. Please believe me when I say an author couldn’t be luckier to have so many supportive friends. Thank you! And now, please tell me what books I should be taking on my vacation, because my husband and I are headed for the beach to start this year all over again!

Murder under the stars…
