The Sunday Salon used to be a meme but was getting so huge it became unmanageable, so it is now a Facebook group that has become an informal week in review
gathering place for bloggers.
It is also a place to share our thoughts about things of a bookish nature.
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by

~ It’s a chance to share news~
A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.
Happy SUNDAY Everyone!
It broke my heart this week to learn that Penguin Random House did another slash and will not be continuing even more cozy series. Series by Ellery Adams, Diane Vallere and Hannah Reed are the newest ones on the chopping block. I looked ahead on Amazon and instead of the 12- 15 cozies they have been releasing the past few months, which was a drop from the 20+ they were releasing each month before, they will now only be releasing about 8 per month month. It is frustrating too when the authors tell us sales for the books had been good. It makes me wonder the criteria for choosing which series’ to cancel.
Cozy mysteries seem to be very popular and the fans are loyal. Thankfully some of the authors are finding new publishers or deciding to try self publishing. For me personally after I read about these characters for even just one but certainly 2, 3 or more books, I become invested in them and get frustrated when I don’t know how everyone ended up. When the first purge started one author, Julie Hyzy, was able to “end” her White House Chef Mysteries to give her readers closure. I wish more authors were able to do that. This whole phase shows just one way book publishing is changing.

It’s strange that publishers keep cutting cozy mysteries. The librarian at my local library says cozy mysteries and cookbooks are the two categories of books that get taken out the most.
It doesn’t make sense to me but then again I am a reader not a publisher. I honestly have no clue as to what works monetarily.

So sad about the cozies being dropped. I like those authors. Publishing your own books it’s hard to get them on book clubs , like Amazon.
Too bad you’re losing some more cozy mysteries! That must be disappointing. Personally, I’m not even sure what a cozy mystery is. How does it differ from other mysteries?
Do you know which cozy series are being cut? All of these authors have several series going and it just really ticks me off because they either aren’t letting the books get any kind of build up or they are ending the series before the author can give the readers closure
It’s so sad that so many cozy series are ending. I’m just hoping many of them will either go to other publishers or self-publish. So many great cozies and they really are popular.
