Typing this on Saturday afternoon as we are waiting for the real first big snowstorm of the year to hit tonight and tomorrow. Mr. Dollycas has the snow blower ready to go, but I am worried about the roads as my daughter will be traveling back and forth to work tonight and tomorrow. She is the one that was in the accident last March during on a very blustery day and is a little nervous. Her dad may become her designated driver. As for me, I will be cuddling up with a cozy or two.
Speaking of cozies, I have to mention the number of books coming from Berkley/Penguin Random House for January is only 5 books. This from the company that used to release 15 – 20 cozies a month. The past year we have seen series cancelled in record numbers and very few new ones being added. Thankfully several authors are finding new homes at other publishing groups. Small firms or publishers that used to take a back seat to the powerhouse of cozies from Penguin. They are reducing their number of traditional mysteries and suspense as well, only 7 coming in January. Not sure what their reasoning or strategy is but it is a bit scary. I feel bad for both the authors and the employees that are being hit hardest by these decisions.
