The Sunday Salon used to be a meme but was getting so huge it became unmanageable, so it is now a Facebook group that has become an informal week in review
gathering place for bloggers.
It is also a place to share our thoughts about things of a bookish nature.
Tried to have a quiet week and work on my Smile More resolution I made last week. My son would have turned 32 on Wednesday so I took some “me time” in the afternoon. My youngest daughter took me to get my haircut and do a bit of shopping. Then I came home and curled up with a book. I cut the work day short on Thursday and Friday too.
Then about 11 p.m. Friday night I saw that the movie SING was Free On Demand. My grandchildren had seen the movie in the theater and most of them gave it rave reviews. Remi is 4, he loved all the animals. Natalie is almost 5, “Nana, it is so funny. Kaden is 9, “it was funny but kinda stupid.” He’s more into the superhero movies these days 🙂
So I pressed “select”, put my book down, leaned back, relaxed and watched the movie. It was funny, I liked the animals, it had a good message and was not stupid. And it made me SMILE. I fell asleep with a smile on my face and some good memories of my son when he was the age of my grandchildren. We used to have many movie nights watching tapes on our old VCR. While as he grew older he was more into superheroes like Kaden, he would have liked the animals like Remi. No matter how old he would have thought it was funny. I had just a minute of despair as I thought he would have loved watching this movie with his daughter Natalie, but hopefully he was smiling down from heaven. If you need a little pick me up, this is the perfect movie to watch. I may have to buy the DVD.

Sounds like a lovely way to remember your son. Glad you enjoyed the movie. I haven’t yet but I imagine we will soon. Great books this week! I really want to read more Vicki Delaney and Silence of the Jams looks cute.
I’m so happy you got to enjoy that movie. Always remember the good.
