The Sunday Salon used to be a meme but was getting so huge it became unmanageable, so it is now a Facebook group that has become an informal week in review
gathering place for bloggers.
It is also a place to share our thoughts about things of a bookish nature.
Happy Sunday Everyone!
Yesterday we attended my granddaughter’s 1st dance recital. I am so proud of that little girl. So many thoughts ran through my mind. My daughter’s (her aunts) many dance recitals and all those weekly dance lessons. My son not being there to witness his daughter at this wonderful event, although many told me he was watching from heaven. Thoughts even drifted back to when I attended high school in the building where the recital was held and the weekly dances we had with actual bands not D.J.’s way back in the day. I felt a roller coaster of emotions when all I was there for was to see this awesome little girl dance. My SMILE resolution continued but it was accompanied by a few tears.
I also shed a few tears earlier in the week when my youngest daughter moved Kris’s dresser that he had since he was a baby into her room. The dresser is an antique made by my grandfather back when my mother was a child. It was passed down to me when my grandmother moved in with us when I was a teenager. I stripped and refinished it, took it with me when I got married and then it became Kris’s. My daughter says she and her brother both loved clothes and had/have more than they knew what to do with. This is a dresser with much deeper drawers than you find today so it was perfect for them. She may refinish it herself someday and pass it along. All I know is that it made me miss him like crazy. Tears over a piece of furniture, it still amazes me how grief works right into normal every day things.
