The Sunday Salon used to be a meme but was getting so huge it became unmanageable, so it is now a Facebook group that has become an informal week in review
gathering place for bloggers.
It is also a place to share our thoughts about things of a bookish nature.
Happy Sunday Everyone!
Don’t Rain On My Parade
This was a week that felt like it had two Mondays 🙂 but we did have fun on the 4th. Our family always goes to my mother-in-law’s house on the 4th for fun and food. We start the day at the parade but this year getting to our regular parade spot was a little more complicated. Because of my disability and Mr. Dollycas still recovering from his long hospital stay his mom rented a golf cart to get us into town. (Otherwise everyone walks and I and the little kids get pushed) Well the golf cart was used to get a few other people to their spots and we were the last ones to go. We knew we were cutting it close and getting behind a slow moving fire truck didn’t help. When we reached town the parade had just started and the police officer would not let us pass, even to just go on the side of the road where other golf carts carrying toys, food and water were traveling. Disappointed as this would be the 1st parade either of us had ever missed we told our nephew who was driving to take us back. He said “just a minute” and hopped off the cart and went over to one of the parade organizers, someone Jeff and I had known for years. I am not sure what our nephew said, he didn’t even realize we knew the man, but the next thing we knew our golf cart was directed to take our place behind a float and we became part of the parade for about a block until we reached our spot. We were laughing and waving. It is something we won’t forget and we have promised not to cut it so close next year 🙂 Mr. Dollycas was pretty warn out after the parade so he spent the rest of the day napping and watching the Brewers while the water balloon fights and other craziness took place outside. It is always a good day when you spend it with those you love.

Where do you live that still has a 4th of July parade? Our neighborhood has one but it is very rinky-dink. We pull our chairs to our driveway and watch the kids ride by on their bikes. Ha! Glad you made it.
this one is in Columbus Wisconsin, some years are better than others but it was great this year. Of course nothing like when I was a kid and the National Drum and Bugle Corps came and even had a competition. 🙂
I’m so glad you got to see the parade and what a fun experience on top of it! This week was so odd with the 4th being on a Tuesday. I’m still messed up about what day it is this week! Have a great week!
I am still playing catch up this week 🙂
