Reagan Summerside returns in national bestselling author Duffy Brown’s fifth Consignment Shop mystery, now for the first time in hardcover.
There are two social functions in Savannah guaranteed to get people talking: weddings and funerals. And just as consignment shop owner Reagan Summerside agrees to marry the hunky Walker Boone, her neighbors, sisters Annie Fritz and Elsie Abbot, step up their business as professional mourners. They are so successful that the Sleepy Pines Retirement Center has hired them as a part of their retirement package. But the celebration over good business is cut short when the residents at Pines suddenly begin dying at an alarming rate. And the sisters are the first suspects.
Reagan has her doubts, however, and begins to look into the strange phenomenon. But then something even stranger happens: a body winds up in the sisters’ pink Caddy. The evidence begins to pile up and the suspicious case of Willie Fishbine, who swindled the sisters out of a fortune and coincidentally died prior to the Pines case, is reopened.
Not wanting Willie to be buried until they can find the killer responsible for the murders, Reagan must catch the culprit in time to walk down the aisle.
Dollycas’s Thoughts
I was over the moon when I heard this series had found a new home. This is one of my favorite series and I sure wasn’t done with these wonderful characters.
Something I have been waiting for is moving forward in this book. Boone pops the question and Reagan says yes. They are moving forward in their life together with some major decisions like where they will live and the renovations that may be needed. Due to some crazy circumstances, their wedding party is going to be filled with some people I never suspected. That’s the good news. The bad news is a dead body is found in sisters Annie Fritz and Elsie Abbot garden and another body with casket is hidden in Aunt Kiki’s garage. Both are connected to the Sleepy Pines Retirement Center and the sisters are prime suspects for what could be two murders. Aunt Kiki decides to go undercover in the retirement home to help Reagan solve the case.
Reagan Summerside owns the Prissy Fox Consignment Shop and her neighbors Annie Fritz and Elsie Abbot’s help out at the shop while Reagan is out trying to plan her wedding or catch a killer. Her mother, Judge Gloria and her Aunt Kiki are usually along for both. Her new fiancee Walker Boone does his best to keep all of them out of trouble. With two murders to solve his task is far from easy. I had so much fun following along with their antics. Ms. Brown’s Savannah, Georgia has its hands full with this gang,
Southern charm, snappy dialogue, genuine, unique characters, laugh out loud moments, and a top-notch whodunit grace the pages of Lethal and Old Lace. From the very first word until the last this story completely entertains.
I love the way Duffy Brown writes. Each new story quickly becomes my favorite. It was a bit of a wait for this book, but it was so worth the wait. It surpasses a perfect escape by quite a bit. Yes, this book gets my Paradise Rating. Thank you, Duffy Brown, for this marvelous story!

I don’t shop consignment shops very often, but I shop a lot at thrift stores. My best find so far was a brand new pair of Sketcher shoes for $20. They still had the original $79.99 price tag on them.
I do not shop at consignment stores, don’t have any in my area, would like to though if I had.
surprisingly there are no consignment stores here.
No I have not…I’m not sure if one is even close to me
We don’t have a consignment shop in this community of 15,000 people unless you count Good Will. Our Good Will doesn’t have that good of buys. I think you have to shop there often, a case of being at the right place at the right time, to find a great purchase. If I have to pick a good find, I guess it would be this bread keeper I found. At the time we had a daughter in college and we would send food with her. She did not like her bread to be smashed and would not eat it if the loaf got smashed during transit. So this bread keeper was a great find as it kept her bread from “damage”.
Your review would have me hooked on “Lethal in Old Lace” by Duffy Brown if I didn’t already know of this author. since I do, I can’t wait to read the book.
Thanks for the review and information and for the book tour!

Got so excited about the book that I forgot to answer the question. 🙂 I do shop at consignment shops when I can. We live in a very small town so there aren’t any here. My greatest find wasn’t clothing but rather an addition to our collectibles that I found more or less in their display. It sells for a rather hefty price and that’s why I didn’t have it. Imagine my surprise to find it not only in perfect condition but for pennies on the dollar for what it’s going anywhere else. It’s now front in center in my collection.

I don’t know of any consignment shops in my area.I do shop at resale shops. My most recent purchase was an ottoman for the dogs to use as a step to climb on. It’s really nice even after they have used it for the past year.

I do shop at a consignment store here in Portland that specializes in plus sized women’s clothing. I found a gorgeous deep pink silk dress that fits me really well for about $10. Thanks for the chance to win!

I especially like consignment shops and charity shops when in England! They are even in small villages. My best find was a signed first edition of a Sue Grafton book! Ohhh…and a set of champagne glasses for £1! In clothing, I’ve found a wonderful real leather coat for £3!
I shop at consignment shop since they have wonderful deals and unique items. There are several where I live and I enjoy browsing through the treasures. We bought a bike for $15 for my grandson and granddaughters who use it when they visit on the weekend since they live near us. The bike is brand new and well constructed and strong. I also have found a beautiful wagon for them for $30.
I have only been to 1 consignment shop and I thought it was pretty expensive..but I love thrift shops and garage sales.. I have found some older books that I wanted and couldn’t find in book stores anymore..this was before Amazon and the internet…Lol thank you for this chance.
Love consignment shops!! Probably best deal ever was an antique Egyptian table i bought for $10. Cleaned it up and discovered it was from the 1920’s and worth over $500 😉
I don’t shop at consignment stores very often because I never have any luck finding anything when I do.
I do sometimes shop at consignment shops. I don’t always have luck finding things, as I am a plus size.
Since you gave this book 10 stars, I absolutely MUST read it! And I love terrific series, so I’ve just found a new one.
In answer to the question about consignment shops, I have shopped them before, but they usually don’t have much in my size. However, I have several friends who are more common sizes, and they buy most of their wardrobes in the consignment shops. They are just another form of recycling, which I think is wonderful!
I’ve gotten things from the ridiculous to the sublime.
No I have never shopped in consignment shops
I have never shopped at a consignment shop, I don’t know of any in my area. I do shop thrift stores once in a while. Love this series, can’t wait to read “Lethal in Old Lace”.
I don’t shop consignment shops, but I love to browse thrift stores.

I do, and I have found some amazing tops for the larger woman.
I do go to consignment stores. My favorite thing I found was a Winter North Face Vest. I do enjoy going to St. Vincent de Paul and Good Will stores too.
Yes, I do. So does my daughter. She found me a gorgeous Christian Dior vintage nightgown that she only paid $3.00 for!
Thank you for the giveaway! My mom and I shop in consignment stores all of the time but we haven’t been lucky as of yet. We’ll keep looking, though.
I don’t get to much, but I have found some nice additions to my white hobnail and Basset Hound collections.
I have never shopped at a consignment shop.
I don’t shop consignment stores even though there are a ton of them here in SW Florida! I prefer thrift shops. I have gotten a number of GREAT things at thrift stores, but probably my best buy was a genuine Louis Vuitton shoulder bag in great shape for $6! At another place, I got a Coach bag for $4!!!!!
I haven’t seen a consignment shop in years, I do however shop at thrift stores. I had found a gorgeous leather coat from Saks.
I’ve never shopped at – or been in – a consignment store!
I haven’t found many in my area, but when I do stop in I’m always heading for the book shelves! Dm _ Richards (at) yahoo (dot) com
