The Sunday Salon used to be a meme but was getting so huge it became unmanageable, so it is now a Facebook group that has become an
informal week in review gathering place for bloggers.
It is also a place to share our thoughts about things of a bookish nature.
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by

~ It’s a chance to share news~
A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.
HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
This post has been on my mind for a while. – No More NASCAR For Me
When Joe Gibbs Racing failed to honor their commitment to Matt Kenseth last year with a contract until he was ready to retire I knew my days of watching NASCAR on Sundays would be coming to an end. I started watching because Matt was my driver. He is from Wisconsin and in a long round about way he was related to my family. Over the years I really came to love watching the races but I wasn’t going to pick a new driver to follow. This year when the racing started, 6 weeks ago I think, my television was either off or watching a different station. All the NASCAR pages on my Facebook has been unfollowed or no longer “Liked”. I still follow Matt’s fan pages, hoping for an “important announcement”. My weekends have become my own again, time to read, play with the grandkids, or ready to be off on some family adventure as soon as this Wisconsin weather gets warmer. I have also seen some tweets and posts that Matt is sitting idly by waiting for the phone to ring. He is enjoying family time with a new baby in the house and even off skiing a few weeks ago. NASCAR has had many changes over the years and their ratings are down. Sponsors are scaling back or leaving the scene altogether. There are so many young drivers now that will take smaller salaries than those that have been racing for years. I know I am longer part of their target audience, but Matt Kenseth was a CHAMPION and he deserved better from this sport. I do miss seeing him every week. Nice guy, funny, and a great guy on and off the track. Yes, he shook this up now and again, and they may not say so, but NASCAR changed rules because of Matt Kenseth, changes to the points system and most recent changes on pit stops. For me, NASCAR isn’t racing without him on the track. I am looking forward to all fun family days coming this summer or just curling up with a great mystery.
