On FlashbackFridays I will share with you
the books I was not able to review
when they were first released that have been screaming at me
from my To-Be-Read bookshelf.
With all the cozies I read I don’t get to read as many James Patterson books as I used to. When I was looking for a “Y” book for my Alphabet Soup Challenge I found this one on my TBR shelf.

Kristin Burns has lived her life by the philosophy “Don’t think, just shoot”–pictures, that is. Struggling to make ends meet, she works full-time as the nanny for the fabulously wealthy Turnbull family, looking after their two wonderful children and waiting for her glamorous life as a New York photographer to begin. When her photographs are considered by an elite Manhattan art gallery, it seems she might finally get the chance that will start her career.
But Kristin has a major distraction: forbidden love. The man of her dreams is almost hers for keeps. Breathless with an inexhaustible passion and the excitement of being within reach of her goals, Kristen ignores all signs of catastrophe brewing.
Dollycas’s Thoughts
This story really grabbed me from the start and then it turned eerie and I liked it even more. By the time I reached the end I wasn’t totally surprised because we see where the story is headed, but watching it all play out still had me saying “Wow”. I knew what the last line of the book was going to be and I was like “Yes”!
Typical Patterson, short chapters that keep the pages turning, unable to stop reading because you just have to see what the next chapter will bring. You can definitely see what Howard Roughan brought to the table too that makes this story different from a straight James Patterson novel. As I am reading this book years after its release date, I did notice the book had several 1-star reviews. I am glad they didn’t deter me from reading it. I liked this book because it was different, not at all what I expected and I read it all in one day because I could not put it down. The supernatural element was not expected and really turned the plot upside now.
An enjoyable read. I am glad I didn’t let those 1-stars stop me.

*This book was from my private collection.
I’ve read numerous books that had bad ratings. My tastes often don’t match others. Maybe I’m easier with my ratings but I rarely regret reading a book.
Yes, I’ve read “You’ve Been Warned” and enjoyed it.
Thank you for the review and information on “You’ve Been Warned by James Patterson and Howard Roughan.
Sounds like a great book. One I’d love the opportunity to read.
I have read a book with less than popular reviews just because something spoke to me saying read it. Once it was the cover and once I guess I read something into the jacket that others didn’t see. Both times I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the book. Of course I have read some that I was like yep they were right. I just feel that it’s worth the chance some times.

Although I do leave reviews because I know they help authors, I seldom read them prior to choosing a book. I like what I like and it’s not always what is popular with anyone else. There are books it seems everyone in the world liked but me and books I love that didn’t seem to catch on. To each his own, right?
I don’t pay much attention to reviews, especially these days when everybody thinks they’re an expert. Having said that, I’ve read lots of classics and most of them have bad reviews somewhere along the line. One of my favorites is Jack Kerouac’s On The Road. Thanks.
I don’t really pay much attention to reviews. If I like the description of the book, I’ll give it a try.
I think that most books out there have at least one 1 star review. I recently read Daryl Wood Gerber’s Final Sentence & really enjoyed it.
James Patterson has a knack for writing books that appeal to teens and adults. I love the title, You’ve Been Warned.
I dont always read reviews before I read a book, so I may have. Thanks for the giveaway.
