The Murderer’s Wife – Laura Cutty is in love with a murderer.
She knew when she married him that Thomas Cutty was a killer. She accepts that about him, just as he accepts everything distasteful about her – like the way she cracks her knuckles when nervous or uses the last of the toilet paper without replacing the roll.
Twelve years of marriage and two beautiful babies later, and Laura and Thomas have learned to love the life they built together – a life that depends on Laura never asking the question: Who did Thomas kill last night?
Dollycas’s Thoughts
A unique premise for a book. Laura Cutty has been happily married for 12 years with two young children. Her husband, Thomas Cutty has a great job and a great life, but he is a serial killer on the side. He has taken on a mission to right some of the world’s wrongs by eliminating corrupt individuals. He is not on any police radar for his kills and his wife knows he is a murderer, in fact, she helps him destroy the evidence. She never knows about his targets until she sees the death covered by the news.
What a story. I started reading and couldn’t stop. Eerie, consuming, intense and surprising. The pace is steady from beginning to a very shocking twist. I thought the story was going to end one way and it took a turn that was unexpected. The author has written a story that makes you think.
The characters are strange but in a way that fits this story. Seriously had me overthinking their relationship and wondering about their kids when their father’s extracurricular activities are almost revealed. I was on the fence both wanting him to caught and wanting him to remain free. To say his life has been complicated is a huge understatement. Laura Cutty’s attitude about the killings was so lackadaisical, she didn’t realize she was his accomplice. She felt she was just being a good wife.
This was a tantalizing story that was totally different from anything I have read in a long while. I don’t want to give too much away, but if like stories that will keep you on the edge of your seat this book is perfect for you.
About the Author
Writing isn’t so much what I do. It’s who I am. Ever since I was five years old, I knew I wanted to tell stories for a living. I have a tendency to fall in love with characters and a somewhat (by which I mean extremely) fanatical need to put their lives down on paper.
I write Young Adult fiction because I am still seventeen at heart and because I remember what it felt like to pick up a book and see myself in its characters. Some of the books which influenced me as a teenager include Summer Sisters by Judy Blume, She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb, and all the Sweet Valley High books by Francine Pascal. I hope that my readers can see themselves in my characters and get lost in my fictional stories and the very real emotions that drive them.
A few fun facts about me… I am an adrenaline junkie who loves skydiving, roller coasters, and parasailing. As a certified yoga instructor, I try to find peace in movement and I meditate (almost) every day. I live in the quaint Mount Airy section of Philadelphia. And at least once a week I do comedy improv (think Who’s Line is it Anyway?) and laugh at the utter ridiculousness of make-believe. (From Amazon)
