The Sunday Salon used to be a meme but was getting so huge it became unmanageable, so it is now a Facebook group that has become an
informal week in review gathering place for bloggers.
It is also a place to share our thoughts about things of a bookish nature.
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
Surgery Just In Time For Christmas
It was a pretty normal week, reading, blogging, Christmas shopping, the last book tours of 2018 wrapped up.
But on Thursday I was up at the buttcrack of dawn to go with Mr. Dollycas to the hospital. After months of pain and agony, it was finally time for his back surgery. It was scheduled earlier in the month but was postponed at the last minute to Thursday. We were a little discouraged that it was probably going to change our Christmas plans but so happy that the end of the back and leg pain was near.
The surgery lasted a little over 7 hours. Work was done from T10 to S1. The doctor said as expected it was a big job and he scraped through a lot of arthritis to place rods and 7 pins on each side to fuse and stabilize the spine. After being under anesthesia for so long he spent extra time in recovery to wake up and address his very low blood pressure. He arrived in his room about 6:30 that evening, 14 hours after our day began. Still very groggy, but he could see me and that was what I needed because 1 of the rare complications from this type of surgery is the loss of vision.
Day 2 brought much progress, physical therapy, getting him up and moving around, eating, and still addressing his low blood pressure. I am writing this before we go to see him on Day 3, (Saturday) and hope his progress continues so that we can get him home in time for Christmas.
Traveling to his family’s Christmas on the 25th probably won’t happen but we will see, he can be very determined. Our immediate family Christmas at our house will not happen until after the new year so that gives him a little more recovery time.
The dogs miss him terribly, probably as much as I do. I just can’t wait to have him home and hopefully the constant pain is gone. Prayers are always appreciated.
Merry Christmas!
Lori

God’s speed to a quick and complete recovery for Mr. Dollycas! Tell him not to rush it and allow his body to heal. <3
I saw you posting on FB about Jeff’s surgery and I’m keeping him in my prayers. Glad to know what it was for and that he’s going to have some much-needed relief very soon ,well as soon as surgery pain and PT are over with. Have a very Merry and Blessed Christmas, Lori, Jeff and family!
I hope the magic of this season includes you and your husband and family.
I’m so sorry to hear he’s been in pain but it’s wonderful he’s been able to get the medical care he needs. Hopefully his recovery will continue to go well, he’ll be released soon and his follow up care will go smoothly. I hope he gets the pain relief he’s hoping for soon.
Wishes for a speedy recovery. Happy Holidays!
Hope he has a speedy recovery. Merry Christmas.
