The Sunday Salon used to be a meme but was getting so huge it became unmanageable, so it is now a Facebook group that has become an
informal week in review gathering place for bloggers.
It is also a place to share our thoughts about things of a bookish nature.
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by

~ It’s a chance to share news~
A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.
HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
We Survived the Polar Vortex
We survived the polar vortex and the snow, but sadly at least 21 deaths have been blamed on the frigid cold. Mr. Dollycas and I were fortunate to be able to stay in the house and out of the freezing temperatures. Daughter #2’s car got stuck in the snow on Monday. The snow was still coming down and blowing. Guys driving by stopped to help her get it back in the driveway where they told her to stay because the roads were awful. It stayed there until her brother got us shoveled out so she could get to work on Tuesday. Then her car didn’t start on Wednesday so she had a coworker pick her up. Her brother stopped here on his way home from work again and got it running. SHE HAS AN AWESOME BROTHER!!
Daughter #1 was surprised her car started and that she made it to work like her brother the whole week. The grandkids had snow and cold days off from school too. It was hard to explain it to the dogs at first but they soon got with the program after the first two times when they had a terrible time getting up the step and into the house after doing their business as fast as they could. Their poor feet! My fingers started tingling just standing at the door waiting for them. It wasn’t fit outside for man or beast.
It seems like we are having a heat wave here now with temps in the 20’s. The groundhog didn’t see his shadow so if you believe in rodent forecasters we will have an early Spring. The earlier the better is just fine with me.
Google+ Bites the Dust
Google’s answer to Facebook will be going away April 2, 2019. Citing “low usage and challenges involved in maintaining a successful product that meets consumers’ expectations” they have decided to shut it down. Apparently, this was announced in December but I and many others totally missed it. I enjoyed using it to promote blog posts and book tours, and reading content I was not seeing on Facebook. If you have a Google+ account there is a banner across the top of the page explaining the shutdown and how to save any data before it is deleted. As early as February 4th, you will no longer be able to create new Google+ profiles, pages, communities or events.
This does not affect your other Google products like Gmail, Gdocs, or your blog if you use Blogger. But If you’ve used Google+ for comments on your own or other sites, this feature will be removed from Blogger by February 4th and other sites by March 7th. All your Google+ comments on all sites will be deleted starting April 2, 2019. Also If you sign in to sites and apps using the Google+ Sign-in button, these buttons will stop working in the coming weeks but in some cases may be replaced by a Google Sign-in button. You’ll still be able to sign in with your Google Account wherever you see Google Sign-in buttons.
This just info I have gleaned from the announcement linked to the banner on the top of my Google+ page, I am no expert. It is just I have seen several people posting about it and wanted to share in case you have not visited your Google+ profile recently. I will continue to share information there as long as I can. If you follow me on Google+ please head over to my Facebook Fan Page – https://www.facebook.com/escapewithdollycas/ and Like and Follow or subscribe to my blog using the widget at the top of this page so you don’t miss a single thing.

Have a great week!!

I’ve never been a fan of Google+ but I am a Google blogger so I worry a bit about that.
I have to just keep reminding myself that nothing stays forever.
Wow! I wish I had a brother!!!
So now I’m wondering what kind of cars are the ones that came through in a polar vortex and what kinds of cars did not.
I have a Google + but never really used it so I won’t notice when it’s gone.
Thank you for telling us the close-down does NOT apply to blogs on Blogger, I’ve had Bonnie’s Books for twelve years, before Google took over from Blogger, so I’d hate to lose all of that.
The Polar Vortex and other extreme weather has me very worried for the world. Sigh. Glad you made it OK.
We didn’t get so cold and it didn’t last more than a few days. This week is positively gorgeous with temps in the 60s!
I have been seeing those Google+ notices and realize I use it for some comments so we’ll see how that works in the future.
Have a good week and a warmer week!
