HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
It was a typical week in the blogosphere. Be sure to enter the Gratitude Giveaway that I posted on Friday.
SOAP OPERA DRAMA
My television watching this week was focused on Days of Our Lives. The show took a 1-year time jump and I am not happy. Characters died, others are in prison, some fan favorites returned or will be returning. It felt like all the characters were put in a hat and were matched as the names were pulled out. I seriously am hoping for a Dallas moment and someone wakes up from the terrible nightmare they are having.
The show also rose a big stir all over social media with the news the cast “had been fired”. In reality, the show is taped 8-9 months in advance and they are taking a longer holiday hiatus. Actors took to social media to tell fans they had not been fired. Many of the contracts only last 13 weeks and since the hiatus will be longer than 13 weeks the actors and crew are technically off-contract. The actors reported that the powers that be want to have a shorter lead time so they can fine-tune or rewrite plots if necessary. The cast and crew should be returning to the studio sometime in February or March and have told their fans to “RELAX”. I will say the studio/producers/network have invested a lot of money in new sets for a show that is about to be canceled, so I tend to believe the actors. It is the longest-running soap in history so I am hoping the network announces that the show has been renewed for another year soon in the new year. Until then I have to either get on board with this time jump or giving up on a show I have been watching my entire life or like I said that it was all a horrible dream.
Another Special Birthday!
The highlight of the week was last night when the family gathered to celebrate our grandson, Kaden’s golden birthday. Kaden turned 12 on Tuesday and like we did when his mom and aunt and uncle’s birthdays we headed to Ponderosa “to have some birthday cheer”. We were super excited because my sister got to join in on the party too. Not sure how it happened by Kaden and his brother, Remi ended up in our car for a sleepover. As I type this, Nerf darts are flying through the house and I need to wrap this up to choose a movie so everyone settles down. Daughter #2 has hooked us up with Disney+ so we have plenty of choices.

Thanks for sharing the photos. The birthday looks like fun! I used to watch that soap opera all of te time. Fell away from it some time ago. My brother-in-law still loves it:) Have a lovely new week, Lori!
I wish I had signed up to be a part of your Gratitude Giveaway. What a great time to give away books and prizes to others.
It looks like you had a great time with your grandson on his birthday. I can’t believe my g-daughter is already four. Grandchildren apparently grow up even faster than children.
I started watching Days of Our Lives way, way back when I was in college in the 70’s. I watched all the way through the 80s when I gave up daytime tv. I still remember some of the characters’ names (Dr. Laura Horton, I think, for one) and the stories. It was a show my mom and I watched together.
Have a lovely week!
Happy birthday to Kaden! I hope you have a great week!
Big changes in a long running show are so frustrating. I hated the last season of Fringe when they jumped into the future. My weekly update
