A Very Special Birthday!

When Son #2 and his girlfriend blessed our lives with Charlotte back in August we also received the treat of a Bonus Grandson in her brother Thomas. Over the past couple of years that little boy quickly found a way into all of our hearts. He is such a cutie and so much fun.
Friday night we traveled north to Appleton to celebrate his birthday and meet more of his mom’s family. We started at the FUNSET BOULEVARD FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT CENTER where all the kids, big and little had a great time. After that, we hit the local Denny’s for a little late-night breakfast/dinner. While we were eating we noticed the snowflakes start to fly.
WINTER UGH!
It sure has been a crazy winter, snow for Halloween, a brown Thanksgiving and Christmas, but this weekend Mother Nature has decided to give us a good dose. We had seen reports about a coming storm and on our way to Appleton, there were road signs flashing a Winter Storm Warning starting Saturday at 3 p.m. until Sunday at 6 a.m. No mention of a Friday night preview. We thought we were safe for a little birthday celebration, but as I said the snow started to fall while we were eating. By the time we headed out for the hour trip home, it had really picked up.
Everyone was taking it slow, a few semis flew passed us but one in front of us must have been empty because he was driving with the 4 – ways on and barely went over 40 MPH. One car that buzzed by was in the ditch a few miles up. So we took our time – the 1-hour trip home took about 2 hours and we all arrived home safely, where we proceeded to have a huge slumber party as Daughter #1 decided to stop here and stay overnight with the boys rather than braving any more time on the road. Natalie was already here for the weekend so the house was full and I loved it.
Daughter #1 and the boys left yesterday at about 1 p.m.to beat the next snowstorm headed this way. As I type this late Saturday I have not seen any snow yet and round two has been downgraded a bit but you never know how the wind will blow and just how much snow Mother Nature will deliver. We have plans to go to my Mothers-in-Law’s later today to watch the Packer game so I hope she doesn’t drop too much!

I hope you have a fabulous week!

I must admit, I’m envious of all the snow! We rarely get snow in the UK nowadays… When I was a kid, it was much more frequent. 🙁 I do enjoy it but not driving in it.
I’m glad you had a lovely time celebrating birthday and all got home safely. Dennys is one of my favourite places to eat for breakfast (or anytime, lol) when we’re stateside. 🙂
That little fellow is adorable. I’m glad you were able to celebrate together. It is always wonderful to get together with others.
I hope the weather holds out for you so that you can get together for the Packers game.
Enjoy all those books. Don’t they look fun!
Have a great week.
Happy Birthday to the little one. What a sweet photo! I don’t envy you the snow. The closest I get is seeing it on the nearby mountaintops, and I’m good with that. I don’t do well with the cold and ice. I hope you have a nice visit at your mother-in-laws and the storm doesn’t hit before you are home again. I hope you enjoy all your new books. I do love a good cozy mystery! Have a great week!
We’ve had storms but it’s all lightening and rain. Don’t want to be iced in, but would love to have some pretty snow.
Have a great week!

I’m glad you made it home safe and sound in all that snow. My weekly update
Looks like a fun birthday celebration 🙂 I’m super glad our winter has been pretty mild so far – all that snow freaks me out (and yet I deal with it most years). Glad you’re safe and warm again!
Happy birthday to the baby! He’s so cute! Have a great week. I hope you don’t get tons of snow.
So glad you made it homer safe and sound! Now in TN from IL and so glad to miss out on all the white stuff! Blessings to you and your family.
