KittyKai’s Easter Mystery: A Cobble Cove Story
by Debbie De Louise
Hi Debbie! Welcome to Escape With Dollycas.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m a librarian at a public library and the author of the Cobble Cove cozy mystery series that currently has 5 full-length books and 4 short eBooks including my new release, KittyKai’s Easter Mystery that is on blog tour. I’ve also written 5 other books including a paranormal romance and 3 standalone mysteries.
What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?
I don’t do research before I write. I do it during the writing and editing process. I use Google and other online sites and interview experts in the fields that I’m researching.
Do you ever suffer from Writer’s Block?
Not often. I usually have more ideas than I have time to write. The only time I run into trouble is if I’m in the middle of a novel and get stuck. If I take a break and work on something else, I’m usually able to deal with it and finish the book.
What advice do you have for someone who would like to become a published writer?
I would tell them that they have a lot of choices and need to decide if they want to pursue a writing career or just have their book published. Then I tell them, once they make that decision, they need to research publishers and publishing methods. I tell them it wouldn’t hurt to do some market research, start a blog, and spread the word to friends, family, co-workers, and social media followers.
When you are not writing what do you like to do?
I enjoy reading but am finding I have less time to do that when I’m writing and promoting my work. I also like to walk and do exercise videos. I’m a cat lover and have 3 cats who I enjoy playing with. I also like to binge watch shows with my husband.
How has the COVID pandemic affected you and your writing?
I think it’s affected everyone, no matter what you do. I miss attending writing events, conferences, and book signings in-person, but I am enjoying some of the virtual opportunities. I have attended more writing and library conferences this year than I ever have because there’s no need to travel. There are pluses and minuses to virtual events, but I’m glad that they are available.
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why?
My family was planning a trip to Colorado before the pandemic, so I hope we can go there once things are safe. However, we’ve also talked about traveling to Italy. I’d love to do that one day, too.
What is next on the horizon for you?
I have a time-travel thriller releasing soon. I don’t yet have the date, but Time’s Relative already has a cover and should be out this spring.
Thank you for stopping by today!
Keep read to get the details on Debbie’s new book!
