HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
A Week in the Life of Dollycas
Last weekend was blistering hot literally. Our daughter-in-law got a terrible sunburn and Daughter #2 had one too but not as bad. They both have reached the itchy peeling stage and have vowed to wear more sunscreen in the future. I have a different type of skin, my burn last week quickly turned to a nice tan with no itching or peeling. Sadly only my son Kris inherited that skin type, his siblings weren’t as lucky.
This week was the complete opposite. Thursday we were lucky to get into the ’40s with frost warnings at night. Unbeknownst to us the gas company selected that day to turn off our gas and install a new meter. Daughter #2 arrived home from work to find a slip on the door telling us to set up an appointment to have it turned back on. We were home, but didn’t even know they were here, why didn’t they just knock on the door and do it while they were here. It was after 5 p.m. so we had to wait until the next day so that meant no turning on the heat because we were cold and ice-cold showers the next morning. The serviceman arrived mid-day on Friday and turned the gas back on and relit the pilots but when I went to take a shower and all I got was lukewarm water that quickly turned cold. Turned out the man turned the temperature on the water heater down to the lowest setting. We have now rectified that situation and we are all happy things are back to normal. I will never understand why we had to wait the extra day.
Yesterday, Mr. Dollycas and Daughter #2, and Daisy made a trip to the pet store. She has been going to puppy training classes for a couple of weeks and has learned several basic commands. She is very smart and catches on quickly but now she needs to graduate from a basic collar to a halter so she can start to work more on a leash. The only thing she really hasn’t grasped yet is riding in the car. We have taken her everywhere with us hoping she would like to ride in the car. She does okay on the double-laned highways but in town or single-lane roads she just goes crazy. She seems to think every approaching car and even some parked cars are the enemy. Last weekend we found she was calmer with the sunroof open but that didn’t work during the week when going to the dog park. She loves the dog park and has made several friends but getting her there and home is such a stressful time. It’s a good thing she wears her seatbelt or heaven only knows the chaos that could ensue. Doggy owners if you have any suggestions, throw them at us. We are willing to try anything. 🙂

How frustrating to have your gas turned off without much notice. We learned from the Big Freeze here in Texas that we are at the mercy of our utility companies.
Love that Daisy. She is so beautiful. I know nothing about dogs or dog training but I hope that you are able to get her to be more comofrtable with traveling in the car soon.
All your cozies look delightful. Perfect summer reading.
It turned cooler this weekend after having super hot days all week. My Charlie didn’t like to car ride either. As he got older he got better about it. Perhaps try a thundershirt as it helps with anxiety – Charlie wore one during thunderstorms and it really did help. See what I read and more at Girl Who Reads
Oh my gosh I can’t believe you were stuck without heat! Grrr Your puppy is just too cute! Have a great week!
I have always wanted to visit Rhode Island. All I know is that it’s very small. I hope it’s a sweet place for the wedding.
I had a retriever who acted the same way in the car. He hated oncoming cars and would bark and try to chase them. It was hilarious and super annoying. I hope you have a great week.
