A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.
HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
It has been quite a week of despair in the world.
COVID on the rise, the deaths in Afghanistan,
the people fleeing from there as the troops withdraw,
fires in the west,
and hurricane Ida making its way and doing tons of damage.
Plus everyone’s personal challenges.
This week I learned that an author friend’s cancer returned and she is starting treatment all over again.
My heart and thoughts go out to all.
A Week in the Life of Dollycas
This week started with a very happy face. “Hey, Mom, Nana, Papa, I am ready to come in.” Miss Daisy has a bad case of FOMO. She barely gets put outside when she begs to come in. She sure keeps us on our toes.
Tuesday since Daughter #2 was home recovering from her wisdom teeth removal she took me to the wound clinic. We were barely out of town when the sky opened up with a hell of a storm. We did discuss pulling over once but slow and steady got us to where we needed to go. It was like traveling in a never-ending car wash. Roads were flooded and it was hard to see. She pulled under the awning at the clinic and got me a wheelchair and into the lobby and then went to park the car. Good thing she took me that day because Mr. Dollycas could never have made that run. She was still pretty wet when she arrived. After my appointment, we came out to the sun trying to peek out through the clouds and the rain moving off to the east.
On Thursday this delightful little dolly turned 2! Her mom and dad are both under the weather so her party has been postponed for a bit. I truly can’t believe how fast she has grown and how quickly she catches on to things. She can become a pretty good mischief-maker in the blink of an eye and the next moment the sweetest little cuddler. I am so happy when her parents bring her by or ask us to babysit. These moments pass too fast at this age and I don’t want to miss a single one. Happy Birthday, Miss Charlotte! My favorite two-year-old on the planet.
Friday night meant youth football night for Kaden and Remi. Looks like Kaden is working hard to pass up his dad pretty handedly in the height department. He had his first game last night and Remi has his yesterday afternoon. We missed both sadly because Mr. Dollycas tweaked his ankle somehow. He did have a couple of falls last week but felt fine until Wednesday. Of course, he refuses to go to the doctor.
Our week rounded out with a few more storms but nothing like they are facing in the southeast. I would kinda enjoy them if they didn’t bother our granddog Thunder so much. He came with that name from the shelter. It is just sad that a dog named Thunder hates Thunder. But we do have a system set up. He is either on Mr. Dollycas’s lap or on my foot getting tons of pets and snuggles. He is such a handsome fella.
How was your week?

Your Escape Into A Good Book Travel Agent
I sure enjoyed walking through your week with you! Mine was filled with doctor’s appointments and tests, not the most pleasant way to spend one’s time. I have decided that nothing conclusive is going to come out of all this, and I might as well consider myself healthy. So there!
You had a busy week, Lori. I’m glad it was your daughter who was able to get you safely to your appointment during that awful storm.
Charlotte sounds like a great kid! Everything does change fast at her age. Hope you get to enjoy celebrating with her soon.
Poor Thunder. I understand completely how he feels. What a dapper dog.
You’ve had quite a week! I am ready for some sun as well. We have had so much rain and clouds this week. We sure needed the rain though.
I hope you and Mr. Dollycas are able to get to some football games soon.
Looks like you have some good reading coming up.
Take care!
