HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
I had a busy week. In addition to reading, blogging, and book tours I went to the Wound Care Clinic on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Taking me off the major cancer medicine seems to have helped. The wound on my left leg, which was small in almost healed, and the larger wound on my right leg has shown some improvement as well. I have again reached my insurance deductible for the year so I am hoping these wounds are healed by the end of December.
With all that has been going on, I have not had an eye exam this year. Since I have been newly diagnosed with diabetes I have learned that it is important to at least have my retinas checked every year plus chemo can damage your eyesight. Well, it seems my insurance company had been reading my mind because on Monday they called to offer me a home visit with a technician to check my retinas. She arrived on Thursday and was here less than 10 minutes and my eyes were checked. My primary doctor will receive my results in 7-10 days. I promised to have a full eye exam as soon as possible in the new year.
We also had a special little girl in the house on Thursday. I think we have a budding puzzle master on our hands. It is always so much fun when she is here and she definitely keeps us on our toes.
Yesterday I was thrilled to watch my granddaughter play basketball. It has been several years (2011) since I have been to a game and I love watching kids play basketball. Natalie had a tournament right here in town. Let me tell you watching these youngsters play was so much fun. They still have so much to learn but I was impressed by how well they all played. There are only a couple of weeks left in their season and I hope to be able to get to all the games. I didn’t realize how much I missed it until the girls started running up and down the court. (That is Natalie with Daughter #2 in the picture.) After the games, we went out for supper with Natalie’s mom, her parents, sister, and niece. The icing on the cake Natalie came home with us! She will go home later today and again I will be missing her like crazy as soon as she goes out the door.
How was your week?

Please check with your local branch of the American Diabetes Society… They have resources available to people who might need assistance. Also, check with your local senior resource center, assuming you are of an age. Further, your primary care should know of services available, once your insurance benefits are up.
The best of good fortune to you.
There’s so much good news in your post today!
I’m very glad to hear that your wounds are healing. Let’s hope that continues and you are able to be completely healed soon.
I bet you love seeing Natalie play ball. Wonderful, too, that she got to come home with you.
Happy Thanksgiving, Lori!
Hurray that your wounds are getting better and hurray for cute grandkids and basketball games and all the other fun stuff!
I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving and that your retinas are 100% ok! I have an eye exam coming up Dec 14!
What fun, and what a fine week you had, girlfriend. I loved seeing your granddaughter and her team. What are your plans for Thanksgiving?
