HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
A Week in the Life of Dollycas
If you follow me and this blog you know March is a hard month for me and my family. The accident that left my right side paralyzed happened on March 14, 2001. In March 2013 we lost our Fall River house. I lost my son, Kristopher to suicide on March 15, 2015. I received my breast cancer diagnosis on March 13, 2020. Kris’s birthday is March 29. Last year at this time our landlords sold our house without telling us and gave us less than a month to find a new place and we had days filled with stress and drama as we feared we may be homeless just like we almost were in 2013. Thankfully we did find a place in the nick of time. I enter this month with dread wondering what I am going to be hit with next.
This past week I have just felt off, you know left of center, a little achy and depressed. I know it’s just this time of year and the weather changes add to the mix but I have a little trepidation too as on Wednesday I will go to have another follow-up mammogram. Hoping the cancer has not returned and not traveled. Trying to prepare for the radiologist not to confirm anything. Just saying come back in 6 months like he did the last time.
The past few years I have really lost my faith but I strive to keep moving forward when the dark days come. I find strength from my friends and family. I am so thankful for each encouraging message, each heartfelt hug, ears that listen, and sometimes my grandchildren’s smiles can turn my whole day around. I know I am going to need all of these things as the month continues, Have I mentioned . . . I HATE MARCH!
I know I have not the only one struggling. We all have days that get us down. Tough mountains to climb. And let’s face it COVID has just added to the pressures and the war with Ukraine isn’t helping either as we worry about its people and how the conflict affects the world as a whole.
If you are struggling please reach out for help. Schedule some time to spend with family and friends doing something fun. If you don’t want to talk to friends or family, talk to your doctor, find a support group, or if you are at a crisis point now please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255. Or contact the Crisis Text Line by texting TALK to 741741.
Just know you are not alone. Reach out. There are people that love you that want to help.

Are you getting enough sunshine? Could a sun light lamp help?
These are challenging times.

Praying that all goes well for this month! I think March is my least favorite month as well (but not because we’ve had bad things happen), but there are no holidays, school breaks or anything to break up the month. It just seems incredibly long. Have a good week.
Dang, what does March have against you fine folk???? I hope he is much nicer this year! I’ll be thinking of you on Wednesday. Hang in there!!!
I am sending good vibes and hugs your way. Hoping this March you find some peace.
I’m so sorry that March has been such a terrible month for you. I understand completely how you might be feeling a little down this month. You have helped so many people by suggesting that those who are feeling suicidal get help.
Sending prayers and good thoughts for your next checkup.
I can’t remember when I’ve had a day without reading.
I am so sorry for all the suffering in your life. You must be such a strong woman to get up and face each day!
I know that certain months seem to bring heartache to some families. I lost both of my parents in the month of March.
I hope you get good news this time around!
