HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
A Week in the Life of Dollycas
Tuesday I received a message from Son #2 that he was at the hospital with a fever of 102, massive back pain, and feeling like someone was stepping on his chest. Of course, I wanted to go right there but the hospital is still under COVID protocols so I waited by my phone. He was soon admitted with a diagnosis of pneumonia and hooked up to oxygen, given IV fluids and antibiotics. Hard to keep this young man down, he was released late the next day and rested at his apartment on Thursday and returned to work on Friday. I am always amazed by the way he pushes through illnesses that would knock me on my butt for a week or more.
On Wednesday we did go to the hospital. Me for a mammogram and Mr. Dollycas to visit Son #2. My mammogram went well and then I visited with my Breast Cancer Advocate. She was so happy that I seemed more like myself now that I have been taken off the Verzenio. It was great to catch up with her and wonderful that didn’t include me breaking down in tears. The radiologist said as expected to have another scan in 6 months as expected.
Later that day I received a message that I had a new health report to read on the hospital’s patient system. I signed in expecting to see the same message as the previous scans and what totally taken by surprise to see “No suspicious findings” and the word I have been waiting to see “BENIGN“. The next day I received a letter which states –
Dear Ms. Caswell,
We are pleased to inform you that your recent study MAMMO BILAT DIAGNOSTIC performed on 3/9/22 shows no evidence of cancer.
I was over the moon happy. Something good in the month of March! I can now say I am a breast cancer survivor! Almost exactly two years to the day that was informed I had breast cancer. I still am at a high rate for reoccurrence so will continue to have mammograms as ordered and continue to take the Anastrozole. Knowing the next few days are going to be hard for my family I decided my news was something to celebrate with a family dinner and game night. (Since I am typing this on Saturday before the celebration I will share more next week about our celebration.) Please keep my family in your thoughts as Tuesday marks 7 years since we lost Son #1 to suicide.

Such wonderful news for you! Seems like all I’ve had lately is bad news, so it’s great to rejoice with you and your news. Thank you for sharing.
