from my To-Be-Read bookshelf.

Hilarious, deceptively meaningful essays of ordinary, everyday events, in which the author sets out to prove his startling, radical, highly controversial assertion that we are all going to die.

This book has been out for years but some of these essays harken back to the late 1990s and early 2000s. David Boyne. With an attitude of “When I’ve been in one place long enough to make a mess requiring vast expenditures of energy to clean up, I move” is not the way to go through life but that is exactly what he does taking him all over the country.
The essays were funny but I wouldn’t call them hilarious. Some were a little sad that he lived life the way he did. With titles like “It’s All Good”, “Grudge Holding Letter Bombing Sh*t Listers” “We’re All Going to Die” and “Just Passing Through”. we get the author’s insight and life experience. The author does say he has failed at everything in his life except being a writer or a rewriter.
It is a quick read at just 75 pages and a satisfactory way to spend an evening especially if you need an “X” for a reading challenge.

David Boyne has failed at everything he has tried. Including parenting, marriage, college, gainful employment, algebra, buying low and selling high, riding a bicycle across America, mixing red wine with tequila, and staying perpendicularly tangential to the gutter. At one time he considered becoming a better person, but when told identity theft was illegal he abandoned the idea. When not writing about his failures he boldly stares into Space, schemes for Total World Domination, and exposes himself in public.
