HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
It started as a calm, relaxing, chilly week as cold temps and thunderstorms moved in. Great days for reading and watching television curled up in a nice warm blanket. Then Wednesday sitting at my desk scrolling through Facebook my screen locked up, a picture was centered on the page and loud words rang out from my speakers and a number from “Microsoft” flashed on the screen and kept blinking while the words kept getting louder “DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER – CALL THE NUMBER ON YOUR SCREEN with each repeat.
My computer had been hacked.
We tried to correct the problem in several ways. The person at “Microsoft” wanted $100 to help us and sell us many scammy things. We hung up and realized as long as we didn’t access the internet we could move all my pictures and documents onto a portable hard drive to another computer we had until we could figure out how to fix my computer.
So that is what Mr. Dollycas started to do and it took a long time. We also transferred my emails but because the new computer has Windows 11 it was not appearing as it did on the old computer and it wouldn’t let me add attachments to any emails or allow me to save any pictures or documents from emails. It also only allowed me to send to only one person at a time. I was losing it but Mr. Dollycas stayed calm and while I went to read a book he kept at it.
After a stress-filled Wednesday and Thursday, he went to bed Thursday night telling me he thought by the time I got up Friday things would be set up the way I needed them. After a couple of hiccups and spending time changing all my passwords, I was ready to attack the abundance of emails that came in the past few days and it worked perfectly.
It was a rocky few days and I am so blessed to have a husband with patience for a wife that was ready to throw in the towel and enough techy knowledge to get me back up and running. We will decide what to do with the old computer after I am sure I have everything I need off it.
Yesterday, after a week of chaos, we got out of the house to attend Natalie’s dance recital and she did great. She is back row right in the center. It is always fun to see the little ones to the high school seniors perform. This year was the 30th Anniversary of the dance school and they invited alumni back to perform one number at the beginning of the program. Sadly, my daughters weren’t able to take part but it was nice to hear songs that they danced to way back when and new girls performing to them. Charlotte came along with us and aside from taking a little nap she enjoyed all the dances.
After the recital, we went to a local bowling alley to celebrate her birthday. Daughter #1 was there with her family to celebrate the birthday of their other grandpa. So this grandma collected a lot of hugs and had fun watching everybody bowl. We also had a stowaway on the ride home. Remi came to spend the night and to entertain Charlotte who was also spending the night.

Dancing school recitals really seem retro to me! Sweet that you could be there for the granddaughters.
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Glad you got your Microsoft problem sorted. My hubby is good with computers too so that helps me a lot.
Oh my gosh! I would have been freaking out! I am glad that things were fixed.
Oh I was freaking out! My husband stayed calm but I lost it more than one. LOL
That is scary. It’s a reminder that I need to make sure I’ve backed up everything. Glad you were able to spend Sunday with your family.
I bought a Mac some time ago because people told me they were harder to hack. So far, so good. I am sorry you had such terrible trouble with your computer this week. Scary!
It’s lovely that you were able to spend time with your family. A dance recital is so much fun!
All’s well that ends well! 😉👍🏻
That is not cool getting your computer hack. There programs to help protect computers against that stuff. I used Bitdefender.
Have a great week.
Glad you got your computer problem fixed. Whenever my computer gets those crazy blaring sounds and flashing alerts I just unplug my computer for a minute or two and plug it back in. The ones I get are scams that just want me to call them so they can talk me into sending them some money. I don’t know if if that’s what you got or not though. Both of my sons are in tech support so if I have issues with my computer or blog they can fix it and I’m very thankful for them.
Ugh! Sorry you were hacked!
