HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
Happy Mother’s Day!
This year Mother’s Day falls on Mr. Dollycas and my 40th Wedding Anniversary. We are looking forward to celebrating with family this afternoon with a cookout.
A day with most of my kids and grandkids is just what I need after a super frustrating week. Last Sunday morning I was working on a batch of emails and at about 10:30 my internet went down. There had been a tech here that morning to troubleshoot issues our upstairs neighbors were having with their internet and cable and I noticed ours was out right after he left. We called our service provider to send him back and we received the royal runaround for most of the day. They told us the soonest someone could be here to check it out was Thursday. When we said that was unacceptable because we work from home, the woman said, “Sure you do, everyone says they work from home”. I may have gotten a little irate. It wasn’t just the internet our cable was messed up too. We basically had 2 channels. News and a local channel and of course, no streaming. Good for reading though.
Monday, Mr. Dollycas called his employer to explain what was happening and their IT Department helped him to use his cell phone to access the internet so he could partially do his job. He thought I might be able to do the same with my phone. It required a call to our provider and adding “hotspot capability”. I know there will be a new charge for that on our bill but it had to be done. While I could work it was dreadfully slow and frustrated both of us.
We kept calling the internet company trying to get through to someone that we needed our service back asap. They said they would put us on a “priority list” and were still basically very rude about something their tech had done. We had done nothing, not asked for service, our bill was paid. This situation was totally on them.
Wednesday we received a call that a spot had opened up at 3 p.m. that day. A whole day sooner than the original appointment. The tech arrived a little after 4 and it wasn’t the same tech that was here on Sunday. This guy lives right down the street and apologized from the start because had he known we were having problems he would have come right over. He never knew until he saw our address on his schedule for the day.
As soon as he opened the box outside we could tell he was livid and called someone. We later found out it was the other tech who had really screwed up but failed to admit it. He thought this was a one-family home and added some type of splitter and severed our line. Plus the box was not closed correctly so it was full of water from all the rain. He then called his supervisor to complain and make a plan. He set up a temporary fix so that both household’s internet and cable were restored. Then he scheduled a lineman to come back at a later date to pull a new separate line for our service. That should happen sometime this week. The next bill should be very interesting.
It was great to meet a new neighbor but then he told us he had been promoted and would be moving for the new job soon. So that means this was a one-time deal. He was so nice and considerate. Daughter #2 used to work for the same company, taking calls like the ones we made this week. She was shocked by the way we were talked to by two of the women. I am glad she no longer works there. I also wish we had another option for these services.

Your Escape Into A Good Book Travel Agent
We had an experience with Comcast that sounds like yours. They have a terrible reputation! Fortunately (this was several years ago) ATT also offers internet in our area and we switched. We have always been glad we could get rid of Comcast. Their service is notorious! Good luck with getting everything to work again.

That sounds incredibly frustrating! Is there a way you can make a complaint? I hope your coming week is better for you.
Oh my,
I hate getting the runaround. Maybe your day today (Mother’s Day) will be so good it will make up for all the stress and frustration. Hope so,
Happy Mother’s Day & Happy Anniversary!
If somone had said “Sure you do, everyone says they work from home” to me I would have been a lot more irate than you were! I would have asked to speak to the supervisor. I’ve always been a calm person but as I’ve gotten older I don’t take rude, mean, hateful well at all. But how great that your neighbor was the next tech and that he got it going and was so nice but sorry that he’s moving.
We had the same provider for our internet since we moved in, and then Comcast bought that provider out, and, oh my! the problems we faced. The last straw was when Comcast sent out a technician who tried this and that to install new equipment for several hours before I finally Googled how to do it on my phone and walked him through the process. It turns out—yes, this is a true story—this guy had just been hired by Comcast, had no training in IT, and was actually a recent immigrant from Eastern Europe who was really a circus acrobat unable to find work in his chosen profession!
Your story is awful, but I hope the second fellow was able to make the necessary adjustments on your bill as well as he handled your internet problems.
This is actually a very funny story from the details. Ha!
Unbelievable, but seems with their customer base they no longer care.
Despite all, Happy Mother’s Day!
Happiest of Anniversaries and many more!
Glad its resolved… I should think there should be NO charges since it was THEIR tech who buggered it up and then covered it up.
Good luck!
It’s so important to have nice neighbors. Considerate ones are a godsend. Hope your new neighbors will be just as nice as your old one.

What a nightmare story. Gr.r.r. I’m glad you finally got someone who knew what he was doing.
Happy 40th and Happy Mother’s Day.
You must have Comcast. Worst cable company ever and we’re stuck with them. Hope you can get the bill erased since they were responsible for all of it!
Happy anniversary! Glad you finally got your internet situation figured out.
Hope you had a good Mother’s Day/Anniversary
Jill
