HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
It was a pretty boring week around here until Friday late afternoon when family and friends came together to celebrate some special birthdays and to watch the 34th Annual Truck-n-Show Parade. We had a cookout with Son #2 being the grillmaster extraordinaire. The kids played games and the adults had some good conversation and everyone got to meet the newest family member, all waiting for 9 P.M. when the parade was supposed to start.
At about 8:45 p.m. the local police went along the parade route announcing the parade was canceled due to thunderstorms and high winds that were suddenly headed our way. We were all disappointed but let me tell you everyone came together and the canopies came down, the grill and games were put away, the garbage was cleaned up, and we moved our festivities into the house.
Getting me out to the yard through our front door, where there is no railing, is no easy feat but Daughter #1, her fiancé (I love writing that), and Kaden made sure it happened. I was a little shaky going down the stairs but when it was time to go up as the storm approached Kaden and his dad made it so easy and before it rained a drop. I really shouldn’t be surprised, they have been helping me for a lot of years and have only known me with my disabilities, but the way it happened just showed me again how blessed I am to have some awesome kids in my life.
I am also very appreciative of Son #2’s friends helping to get everything set up for the festivities. It couldn’t have been done without them.
Charlotte is turning 4 later this month but it was decided to celebrate while everyone was gathered. We celebrated her uncle’s birthday, the aforementioned fiancé too!
After the cake and chocolate eclair dessert was eaten and Charlie opened her presents, the storm had passed everyone went home. Let me tell you, the house was so quiet it was almost disturbing. It had been filled with such great energy just a few minutes before. I stayed up to finish a book, and Papa relaxed for a little while watching a little television, but Daisy was exhausted. Herding all those people was hard work.
Yesterday, there was another truck parade, but definitely not as cool without all the flashing lights. Mr. Dollycas, Daisy, and I were all by our lonesome watching from our porch.

It sounds like you all had a great time, regardless of the bad weather. Have a great week!
Ha! It’s pretty ridiculous to imagine that one day I’ll read down my huge TBR! lol
I do love a parade. It’s a shame the parade couldn’t take place as it was scheduled, but I guess we must put safety first.
I’m glad you have such wonderful people in your life.
Sorry the festivities were cancelled due to weather but I’m glad you moved the gathering inside and still had a lovely time!
Having a parade cancelled sounds very disappointing. I hope you will have another one soon.

Sounds like a great cookout even if the ending was hectic.
