HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
Don’t hate me but I am loving this hot weather!
Our week around here was pretty typical, working, reading, chores, and television.
Then on Friday, we traveled back to our hometown to watch Kaden play football. Son #2 and his family were there too along with Kaden and Remi’s parents.
We all knew it was going to happen someday and that day was Friday. The Cardinals went up against a very strong team and were beaten 28 – 0, ending their more than a year-long winning streak. All the boys played hard but it wasn’t their night. The boys, coaches, and fans were disappointed by the loss but according to Kaden and Remi, who was again the water boy, the head coach gave a very emotional speech following the game. How proud he was of the boys that they never gave up when the game wasn’t going their way. About how they win as a team, and lose as a team. And that this loss will make them stronger. This team is like a family and how they all will continue to support each other no matter what, in school classes, in life, and in sports. This man has gotten so much respect for his philosophy of coaching and his assistant coaches are all on the same page. I am so happy to have my grandsons involved in a football program that starts basically from kindergarten and continues through high school and builds them up every day in many ways.
We traveled home with two surprises, Kaden and Remi so that they could watch Thomas play his last soccer game of the year Saturday morning. He just loves them and he wants to be “just like Kaden”, so he was so excited to see them there. Thomas played his heart out but sadly they were eliminated from the tournament after the first game. He can’t wait until next year.
Charlie took a few minutes to snuggle with Nana.
While Athena took a little snooze or played peek with Nana.
After Thomas’s game, we hit the road again for Remi’s football game. Nana and Papa were the chauffeurs as his mom had to work. Let me tell you it was hot out there, about 85 degrees when the game started. It was hot on the field too, as both teams were pretty evenly matched. Remi had a touchdown and pulled a lot of flags on defense. His team left with a win and was glad to get into air-conditioned cars for the ride home.
We delivered the boys safely home and will see them when the sports start again on Friday.

I’ll never forget those sweaty nights in my orange-and-white uniform when I was part of the high school drill team for Friday night football. If I remember correctly, our team never won a single game the entire time I was in high school, and the temperatures rarely dropped below eighty degrees.
What a coach! Anyone can be a coach when your team wins, but to be an inspiring and positive person when your team loses? I am very impressed.
What a wonderful time and great pictures. Has a great week 😀
My grandkids played soccer and basketball. I enjoyed going to watch them. Your grandkids are so cute!
