HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
I spent a lot of time watching the news out of Israel and Gaza this week. Devastating and heartbreaking. Such evil in this world.
It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Wednesday I went for my bi-annual diagnostic mammogram and that is always interesting. It was just the left side where the cancer was but with the paralysis in my right arm and leg, it takes a team to get everything positioned right. They do have a new chair that can be raised and lowered unlike my wheelchair but I still have to stand for a couple of images.
I am blessed to have a wonderful advocate who has been by my side since my cancer diagnosis and having her there is both a calming presence and fun too. We do spend a lot of time laughing. The 2 technologists were great as well.
It is after the images are taken and waiting for the radiologist to call when things get tense and the tears form in my eyes. While waiting my advocate and I catch up on family happenings, books we are reading, and other stuff.
This time there was an issue with the images uploading so the wait was a little longer but well worth it. There was no sign of cancer and when compared to images of the last few years, the area of concern in my last mammogram had been there all the time and is just dense tissue. They now use AI to help verify the findings and that made the comparisons. I do have to go back in 6 months for my yearly scan of both breasts but instead of a diagnostic scan with all the extra images, it will just be a regular scan. I am not a fan of AI but in medicine, it may be a good thing. Have you had your yearly mammogram?
While it was a beautiful day on Wednesday, the weather took a turn on Thursday and continued through yesterday. Friday it rained all day so Mr. Dollycas and I decided to stay home and watch the live stream of Kaden’s game. They and all the other teams in the area played their entire games in the pouring rain. It was the last game of the regular season. Kaden had some amazing tackles. When they announced his name over the loudspeaker not once, but twice on consecutive plays, I was beaming. That had only happened one other time this year, so far. His team got the win 38 – 6. Next Friday will be the first game of the playoffs. I just hope Mother Nature will be in a better mood. It was hard to grab pictures off the television but Mr. Dollycas got the one above with Kaden right in the middle of the line. I know the team photographer will have others for me to add to Kaden’s collection.
Thomas’s game was canceled due to the weather. Not a great way to end the year. 😥 He is excited about next year.
Remington’s last game of the season was yesterday, again the weather kept us home, but Daughter #1 and Kaden endured the cold and sent me a few pictures. Remi had an interception and a touchdown and played great on defense too! They won 24 -18.
Athena had a Mini Moo-Moo Photo Shoot last week. She is such a little cutie.
How was your week?

I feel like I need to pass those rules for being a reader on to a few people I know…. 🙂
That is such great news you got health wise this week. Always happy to hear that.
Sorry that rain kept you from enjoying the final games of the season. But I wouldn’t want to be out there in the poor weather either.
Love the Cozy Mystery book covers especially. I’ve been grieving the loss of life this week too. 😔
Sounds like an overall nice week–good health news and pleasurable reading. About that rain–we’re soggy in NYC too. We’ve had 6 straight weekends of rain, either Saturday, Sunday, or both.
I appreciate your encouragement to get mammograms. I didn’t realize you had paralysis of your left side. What a challenge for you. My admiration just jumped several steps.
I can only imagine the relief of hearing that your mammogram shows no sign of cancer. You’ve been through so much, and your courage is an inspiration.
The news in the Middle East has been tragic and horrifying. I grieve for the civilian losses on both sides, and the plight of the hostages. And I pray for peace, and for the safety and security of everyone in the region.
Very glad to hear you got the all clear w/your lastest mammo! I hope there is more sun and less rain for you this week!
We were in the same rain zone during our time in Chicago! But the rain broke a couple of times so we could walk around a bit and that was nice. I’m so sorry rain put a crimp in your g-kids’ games.
Yes, yes, yes! There are no rules in reading! Yes!
LOVED the pics of the grandkids!
Great news about your tests. I agree with you about AI- it might be helpful in diagnostics and imaging, but I really hope it’s with human oversight!
