HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
Last Saturday night we gathered to celebrate the birthday of an extraordinary woman, my mother-in-law. She is the strongest woman I know. Mother of 4 plus their spouses. Grandmother of 11. Great Grandmother aka G.G. to 20. She is always there for all of us whenever we need her. She has handled everything this world has thrown at her and more. I personally have been so blessed to have her in my life. Her mother lived to be 104 so we expect her to carry on accordingly.
Thursday I had a follow-up appointment with my chemo oncologist. After a quick exam and a few questions, he stated everything was great and that he would see me again in 6 months. I told him I was finally having the medically drama-free year he promised 2 years ago. Knock on wood, no medical instances this year. I just need to make 50 more days until the end of 2023. I am hoping for the same in 2024.
Thursday afternoon I received news that one of my favorite high school teachers had passed away from cancer. He taught English and I was in several of his classes those 4 years. He had retired to travel and enjoy his family but he was still substitute teaching until just a few years ago. He was active on Facebook and stayed in touch with so many of his former students. His daily posts ran the gambit of politics, memes, grammar correction, interesting facts, requests for meet-ups for coffee or lunch, and just plain funny thoughts and sarcasm. He touched so many people’s lives and he definitely left us much too soon. He will be missed. My sympathy to his family and all who knew him. Rest in peace, Mr. B. Until we meet again.
Saturday we traveled to watch Natalie play basketball. Her team played 3 games in the tournament and they dominated in all three. She made some amazing steals and baskets. We were so happy to have Daughter #2 and Charlie join us for the day.
Time flies. I can’t believe that I am typing this but Kaden turns 16 today. So on our way home from Natalie’s games, we stopped by his house to drop off his birthday present. It won’t be long before he will be getting his driver’s license and will be able to come up and see us whenever he wants. Yeah Nana, you just keep on thinking that, lol. This kid has a busy life.
How was your week?

Congratulations on your great chemo oncology report!
Happy birthday to Kaden…
So good to have a loving, long lived family!
Love the birthday party picture — such a great event.
Yay for a drama-free medical year! I’ve been cancer-free since 1985, so I know that it’s a great reason for gratitude.
Huge congratulations on having such a positive report from your oncologist and many more in similar vein in the future. And how lovely to have such a lovely mother-in-law in your life. I hope the coming week is a good one.
So glad to hear about the drama free medical year! We had so much of that the first few years when my stepdad was first diagnosed with cancer. Then he was in remission, but this year when it came back it has been an extremely drama filled year for us. Hope you have a good week!

What a fun celebration for your MIL and great news from your Dr! I need to catch back up on those Girl Friday mysteries — I read the first one and really enjoyed it.
So glad the health news was good. Your MIL sounds wonderful.
So glad that your year is turning around. 6 months! Yay! I hope you play, play, play!
