HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
Following the snow last week had frigid cold temperatures moved in. We decided not to attend Remi’s basketball tournament last week because it was just too cold. Daughter #2 now lives close to where the tournament was held so she caught up with Remi and tells me she arrived just in time to see him score a basket. The next game was at another school so she was able to transport him and spend a little more time with him.
On Monday, we had to go out. It was time for my 6-month Zometa infusion. So we bundled up and headed to the Cancer Center. We left the warmth of the car to go into the chilly building. The wind was really blowing. Labwork went great but things went downhill when they tried to find a vein for the IV. The first nurse blew through 2 veins. The second nurse tried 3 times but had no luck. A third and fourth tried 2 or 3 times each even using heated blankets to try to get the veins to pop. Finally, the fifth nurse walked in, slapped the top of my hand a few times, and found a vein that worked. By now we had been there about 2 hours. The infusion took about 15 minutes. They can’t use the other arm because I had lymph nodes removed on that side. Had she not found a vein I would have had to reschedule or go to the hospital where they would use ultrasound to find the vein and then send me back to the Cancer Center for the infusion. While my hand and arm look like they went through a war I am so glad we got it taken care of and only had to endure the cold again to come home.
And that is where I stayed the rest of the week. Mr. Dollycas ventured out on Wednesday to mail all my Blogoversary prizes and to pick up our grocery order. People had stocked up. Walmart had no hamburger for our order. LOL
More Remi news – Thursday night was Youth Basketball Night at the high school. Remi took part in an exhibition game during half-time of the Junior Varsity game and scored a 3-point shot!
Mr. Dollycas hasn’t been feeling well the last couple of days but hopefully, he is better today and we are off to watch Remi’s games as the heat wave continues. Supposed to be up to 17 degrees today.

I’m looking forward to Murder Most French as well. Hopefully, it arrives this coming week for me.
Hope you get some warmer weather soon.
Glad you got your infusion over with and I’m sorry it was difficult! I am looking forward to Murder Most French!
I’m glad the staff was able to find a veing and that you were able to get your infusion. I can’t imagine getting out in your kind of cold. We are hopeful that we will get to see our g-daughter play basketball later in February. We don’t know how to drive on icy roads, and we hope that by then things won’t be quite so grim.
Nurses who can find veins are the best. I’m glad you didn’t have to go to the hospital and were able to get your infusion. I get prolia every 6 mo. Just like you everything I have done has to be on one arm due to lymph nodes missing from my left arm. After I get the prolia shot, I feel like I have the flu for a couple days–good times! Hope it’s warmer this week by you!
Omg, I’m so sorry you had such a difficult time with the infusion! I had cancer too when I was younger and was poked with needles a lot. I’ve been mostly lucky with the med techs finding my veins, but there were a couple of times when it was difficult and I did not like that at all! I’m glad you got it over with and I hope you have a wonderful week!
