A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.
HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
The weather was pretty mild here this week, 40s, 50s, and 60s with some winds. Highs in the 30s will return this week. Daisy was loving the sunshine floating in through the windows.
Last week was the annual hard one for me and my family. Every year we are never sure how the memories will hit. Thursday was the 23rd anniversary of the accident that changed all our lives.
Friday marked nine years since we lost our son Kristopher to suicide.
And yesterday marked 4 years since I received my cancer diagnosis. Charlotte was just a baby.
All 3 of these days were rough to handle. The first had me in the hospital for 77 days and left most of my right side paralyzed. The second broke our hearts forever. The third made for a rough year and left me with side effects that continue today due to the medications I still have to take. Losing Kris though has been and will continue to be the hardest forever. He touched so many lives. Each of us deals with our grief in our own ways. The memories make us laugh and cry. I try to be open to signs he is near, like cardinals and butterflies that linger. It helps. This year we did not get together as a family. We tried to have a normal day. I cried less than I cried last year but the hurt in my heart is the same every day. We plan to get together for Easter which this year falls just 2 days after what would have been Kris’s 39th birthday. I know I draw strength from all of them whenever we get together and hope they do too.

I can only imagine what a hard week this has been for you, and how much you still grieve your son’s loss (and always will.) Yet you go on with determination, compassion, caring, and optimism. Your strength and resilience are inspiring. May you find peace, comfort, and joy, both within you and in the people around you.
