When mobile cat groomer, Molly Stewart, asks her friend Evan to photograph her new feline clients, they both get more than they bargained for when the body of Evan’s old art teacher is found bludgeoned to death in his photography studio darkroom. After one of Evan’s photos catches suspicious activity in the background, Molly is ready to call the authorities with the newest piece of information. However, an anonymous phone call which threatens not only her, but Evan and their pets, convinces Molly to clam up and find the murderer herself. Will the tenuous situation end up being picture-perfect or a photo bomb?
Dollycas’s Thoughts
Molly Stewart is a cat groomer. You can bring your feline to her shop or she can bring her mobile shop to you. She is usually accompanied by her two friendly cats, Percival and Jasper. Her friend Nate is an excellent photographer who has a way with pets, especially cats like Molly’s. She can’t wait to see his latest set of their pictures. But when she arrives at his studio she finds Evan glassy-eyed and clearly in shock. Following his directions she finds Agnes Temple dead, in a crumpled heap, in the studio’s darkroom. She was Evan’s high school art teacher. He knows he is a suspect in her death. It’s his studio and they had a huge falling out when he was a senior. Molly was doing her best to help him prove his innocence but an anonymous phone call gives her paws (pause) because the caller not only threatens both her and Evan but also their beloved pets. Can she find the killer without putting anyone else in danger? She is going to try.
All my favorite characters are back in this second Mobile Groomer Mystery. Molly is so genuine and kind as is her right-hand woman Veronica Waters. Together they groom all the area’s fabulous felines. They work together, back each other up, and truly enjoy their jobs. Molly and handsome veterinarian Hank Chenoweth are getting closer. Postal carrier Ricky Notts stops by Fabulous Feline Salon every day usually with a story to tell or gossip to spread along with delivering their mail. Molly’s best friend and local librarian Jillian Wells sees and hears a lot of things at the library. Things that could help Molly help Evan. But Sheriff Lawrence King has made it abundantly clear she should leave the case totally to him. He must be serious because he is afraid of cats and has come into the shop several times to tell her so.
Two characters that I really enjoy are Lottie and Florence. They have very spoiled Sphynx cats, Elenor and Helga who the ladies dress up every day. They live next door to each other and Mollie goes to them to groom their cats. They pull their folding chairs to the end of the driveway to watch while drinking several adult beverages. They are hilarious but if Mollie asks the right questions they may impart knowledge that may help Evan.
All Ms. Hartman’s characters continue to develop well as this series continues. I love all the animals too and that their personalities shine.
Several new characters are introduced. People like Evan who had experiences with Agnes Temple. She was a real peach and Molly, Jasper, and Percival find themselves in some funny and some perilous situations as they try to capture the real killer. I enjoyed following along with Mollie and her cats as they tried to solve the murder mystery. Ms. Hartman threw in some nice twists. I was on the right track but made a wrong choice as did Molly. The showdown was eye-opening and exciting. Molly will do everything she can to keep her cats safe.
Purrfectly Framed is a fast-paced mystery with engaging human characters and fabulous felines. It is sure to tickle your funny bone time and time again. The cats really do steal the show. If you love cozy mysteries full of cats and laughs this book/series is for you. You will be totally entertained.

About Ruth J. Hartman
Ruth J. Hartman spends her days herding cats and her nights spinning mysterious tales. She, her husband, and their cats love to spend time curled up in their recliners watching old Cary Grant movies. Well, the cats sit in the people’s recliners. Not that the cats couldn’t get their own furniture. They just choose to shed on someone else’s.
Ruth, a left-handed, cat-herding, farmhouse-dwelling writer uses her sense of humor as she writes tales of lovable, klutzy women who seem to find trouble without even trying.
Ruth’s husband and best friend, Garry, reads her manuscripts, rolls his eyes at her weird story ideas, and loves her despite her insistence all of her books have at least one cat in them. See updates about her cozy mysteries at Ruthjhartman.com.
