HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
Last Saturday we attended the wedding of our nephew and his lovely bride. The wedding was supposed to be outside but Mother Nature had other plans. While it wasn’t the wedding they had imagined, it was wonderful. The barn was beautifully decorated and the service was so sweet. Mr. Dollycas and I had a front-row seat. And, yes, I cried. We don’t see that side of the family as often as we would like but when we get together it is as if no time passed. It was great to catch up with everyone. Our gang was all there except for Daughter #2’s fiancé who had another commitment. The girls even got me out on the dance floor. Sorry, no photos of that.
On Tuesday we traveled through one of Wisconsin’s Amish communities to attend Remi’s baseball game. We passed several horse and buggies and Amish farms. We even followed a horse and buggy for a few miles along a curvy stretch of road.
We arrived a little late but hadn’t missed much. The other team led for a couple of innings and we left several runners on base. About the time the lights came on our boys put everything together. Remi went 1 – 3 and hit a long ball that drove in a couple of runs. The final score was 10 – 4.
Wednesday we went across town to watch Thomas play. The rain was threatening when we arrived and the downpour arrived cutting his game 1 inning short but the boys sure had fun. Thomas can really hit that ball and his fielding is improving every game.
Friday night took us to Remi’s 1st tournament. The team lost their first game but it was a double-elimination tournament so they played again yesterday. The first game of the day started slow but finished awesomely. Remi hit an in-the-park homerun that brought in 2 other runners to tie the game at 3-3. Then another player hit a home run, the bats were hot. They ended up winning 7 – 4. That meant they got to play another game and played the same team they lost to on Friday night and sadly they came up way short losing 8 – 3. While the boys were disappointed, for the year’s first tournament, they did really well.
For me, it was a wonderful week. I was able to get out of the house to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine and was able to spend time with many of my favorite people. It does cut into my reading time both my being away and the fresh air tires me out. I enjoyed several good nights of sleep but my eyes refused to stay open for my usual late-night reading. These kids are too important though, sometimes the books just have to wait.
How was your week?

I can’t wait to read Booked for Murder — I love that cover! Glad you got to enjoy some fresh air this week!
I agree with you completely—I always put people and adventures with them over reading. I’m glad you got to spend so much time with family this week. I bet the weather there is cool and pleasant. I’m a little envious!
You have a family of sports stars, I think!
Sounds like a fun week – a wedding, a ballgame, and following an Amish buggy! Have another great week.

Inveterate reader though I am, I concur: books will wait while real life happens and priceless memories are made…
