HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!

Last Saturday Daughter #1 and her family, Son #2 and his family, Natalie and her mom, Mr. Dollycas, and I set off for a weekend of family fun. We formed a convoy and headed to Green Bay. There was rain in the forecast so we had to switch our plan up a bit. Our first stop was Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers. Some of us had been there before but for others, it was the first time. After Mr. Dollycas and I got our free scooters, the 13 of us embarked on a stadium tour which included visiting the premium sky boxes, the roof, the tunnel the players run from out to the field and out on the field itself all while learning the history of the Packer organization and the stadium. We had 2 tour guides, 1 leading the tour and one with the stragglers, like me. My scooter driving left a lot to be desired but the man had the patience of a saint.

After our tour, we visited the Packer Hall of Fame. It is filled with displays and interactive things for kids young and old.

After the Hall of Fame, we checked into our hotel, had a quick lunch, and hit the hotel’s water park. The kids had fun and so did Mr. D. and I. They had a chair lift to get me in and out of the pool and I loved getting in there to play with them all. They also floated around the lazy river and flew down the slides. Before we left we hit the hot tub and my old bones and muscles loved it. Our day wasn’t done though, we changed and headed to a nearby park that was having a festival with food trucks, live music, booths selling everything from crafts, produce, and windows, and a hot air balloon glow. While we were parking the air balloons were up but by the time we reached where they were, they were taking them down due to another storm moving in. We stayed and listened to the music while the children used up some of their never-ending energy. On the way home we stopped at Texas Roadhouse for supper. It was the first time Mr. D. and I had been to a Texas Roadhouse which the kids didn’t believe. We live such sheltered lives. LOL
Sunday we went to our original destination, Bay Beach Amusement Park. It is a park full of carnival rides and food. Each ticket is just 25 cents and each ride needs 1 to 6 tickets. We overbought and ended up gifting several to other people in the park. The Ferris wheel behind us in the picture is handicapped accessible so Son #2 and I were able to enjoy the ride. Some of the others were in the gondola right behind us. The views of the bay from the top were amazing!
None of us were ready to head home but it was time. I live for days/weekends like this. After my accident in 2001, I had a prognosis of 5 years. There was a cyst on my spinal cord and if it ruptured the doctors thought that would be the end. I was told to live every day like it was my last. Here I am 23 years later. I have faced some stuff over the years that should have broken me. Some days are harder than others and I am ready to throw in the towel. Then there are weekends like last weekend that bring me so much joy. It’s true – “Tomorrow is not promised, and the past cannot be changed therefore, live each day to the fullest and know that every new day is a blessing.” — Nishan Panwar
