HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
I was blessed to have a wonderful mother who is now watching over me from on high. I am also blessed to have a wonderful mother-in-law here on earth; she is always there for me, whatever the need. Her love, time, and advice have gotten me through so much over the years. I married into a fabulous family 42 years ago, and she is the best gift.
It was a busy week around here.
Monday, Mr. Dollycas had knee replacement surgery. Daughter #1 accompanied him to the hospital and stayed until he was settled in his room. The surgery went very well, and Son #2 brought him home late in the morning on Tuesday.
While he was away, Son #2, his wife, and a few of their friends attacked our house, moved furniture around, cleared any clutter, straightened, and cleaned. I don’t think our bathroom was as sparkling when we moved in. The rearranging opened up areas to make it much easier to get around now that we are both using walkers. Words can’t express how thankful we are for everything they did.
Thursday, Mr. Dollycas had his first PT appointment. He was surprised by how much he could do. He felt so good after, he signed back in to his work computer and worked a full 6 hours with walking breaks throughout the day. Friday, he woke up and decided to do the same, but by afternoon, he was tired and hurting and had to sign out to rest. His friends have told him PT is going to kick his butt, but he seems to think he is Superman. We will see how this week goes with PT 3 days a week, along with the home excercises.
Friday night, I was delighted to attend Charlie’s Spring dance recital. The dancers range from age 3 through high school. It was an entertaining show. Two classes had won national events. Charlie was just adorable. She loves to dance and wants to take a hip-hop class in the fall.
Now, I have to go back to last Saturday night. I told you last week that Kaden was on Junior Prom Court. This is a picture of him with some friends before they went to the restaurant and Prom.
Here they are at the prom. Besides the setting and the line-up, there is one difference.
Kaden was voted Prom King by his fellow classmates and has a very tiny crown on his head.
We did not attend. Family was kept to the balcony, and the gym was pretty dark, making it hard to get pictures. I am so thankful my lifelong friend was there for her grandson and texted me right away. Then she ignored the rules and tracked down Kaden to get this picture. She told him to text his Nana. When this picture and his text “I got King” arrived, I was so happy and proud of him.
Proms are different these days, while some kids attend as couples, most attend with groups of friends. Voting is done for individuals, not for a couple. I like that. It gets more kids attending and involved. My only issue is that the school hasn’t posted any pictures from this event. The one above in the gym was taken by another student. I would love to see a picture of the whole court.
This also brought back memories from Mr. Dollycas and me at my Junior Prom in that very same gym 47 years ago. Now that is a picture I need to find.
How was your week?
