HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!

Thomas and Charlie wrapped up their school years on Friday. Kaden, Natalie, and Remington go through June 5th. Summer sports are kicking into high gear for Natalie, Remington, and Thomas, and Charlie will have a new dance class starting soon. We will have a great time traveling around to watch as many of their events as we can.
Mr. Dollycas and I had a good week. He is keeping up with his PT and cutting back on the pain meds, so we should be able to start traveling out and about again soon, well, further than the hospital, which is all that he has been allowed. I am still struggling to get my late-night reading back on track. My Kindle Paperwhite has hit the floor more times than I can count lately. My body’s rhythm is just plain off. I am getting up and to my desk earlier, but still spend full days there. Granted, there have been distractions, like Facebook shouting at me way too often to see what the current administration is doing to ruin people’s lives on almost an hourly basis. A good distraction is when Athena and her mom come to check on us. I stop whatever I am doing to play with that little one.
A big distraction last week was a statement for my visit to my infectious disease doctor back in April. Last week, I received a statement saying I owed $398, and I was totally confused. My insurance has a $40 copay to see a specialist, and I paid that on the day of my visit. This started a message war between me and Nancy in the billing department. She was sure to tell me it was a courtesy that they assist patients by filing claims, and that I needed to familiarize myself with my policy and read my Explanation of Benefits for the charge. The claim was just processed, so I haven’t received the EOB yet all I have is what is on the insurance website. She also threatened to send the bill to collections if I didn’t pay what I owed promptly. Of course, I contacted the insurance company. The charges were denied due to a coding error, and they had asked for the charges to be resubmitted properly by the hospital. Instead, the hospital billed me. She told me not to pay anything until a review could be done.
The next day, I received another message from Nancy in the billing department telling me that they had completely reviewed my account and that I had a $140 credit, which they would apply to my balance. Later that day, another message came through. Since I couldn’t provide an EOB showing my share was ZERO, I needed to pay the amount on my statement as soon as possible because my doctor is “out of network”. Funny, all the other charges from him have been paid, and what happened to the $140 credit? It was too late in the day to contact my insurance company again, so I will on Monday.
Just curious, if you were in the hospital, would you ask every doctor that is part of your care, “Are you in my network?” The hospital has all your insurance information, and when you are there, things are usually pretty stressful. Why would they assign doctors to you who weren’t going to be paid for it? Well, I will be distracted more this week as I try to get to the bottom of this.
HOW WAS YOUR WEEK?

That terrible about your billing, because if I were in the hospital i too would assume insurance would be covering the doctors who treated me. i hope you can get it all sorted out.

Yet more evidence of the hell tRump is putting us through…sorry…nothing we can do but fight back, contact our congress people …and pray
I am sure I will make plenty of mistakes because of lack of knowledge when I am hospitalized. “Out of network?” The insurance company tried telling my niece that when her baby was born weighing less than two pounds, but, fortunately, her doctor told the company the baby would die if he was moved. Now he’s a happy, healthy five-year-old.
That billing mix-up sounds a nightmare! I hope the coming week is a better one with a quick solution to the bills.
I am glad that our healthcare is a bit simpler here!
Hope you have a great week!
