HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
Following the 7+ million people participating in the No Kings March last Saturday, this week, we and the world watched the demolition of the East Wing of the White House.

No permits, no historical committee approvals, no environmental oversight, no final authorization, no approvals from NPS, NCPC, and CFA, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the White House Chief Usher / Facilities Management Office to finalize funding, scheduling, and logistics. The Jacqueline Kennedy Garden — established by first lady Edith Roosevelt as the Colonial Garden in 1903, adjacent to the East Wing — was also leveled during the demolition, according to satellite images. (Earlier this year, Trump also paved over the Rose Garden, which was designed by the same architect who designed the Kennedy Garden). Two historic magnolia trees originally dating to the 1940s designated as commemorative trees for Presidents Warren G. Harding and Franklin D. Roosevelt, appear to have been removed as well. Many have voiced their fury over this, and a Virginia couple has filed a lawsuit. Looking at the images and reading all the stories and articles broke my heart. penned an article for The Daily Beast, voicing the truth through humor: A Strongly Worded Letter From Donald Trump’s HOA that put into words what most of us were thinking. Please check it out.
And if that wasn’t bad enough, the hits just kept on coming. The shutdown continues as people receive letters of huge premium increases for their insurance. Food Share programs are unfunded starting November 1. These programs are usually deemed essential services, but this time, they were designated a “Democrat Project” by the President and will be unfunded, putting many families in jeopardy and local food pantries at risk of not being able to fulfill their needs. Plus, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge has been opened up to oil and gas drilling, bulldozing decades of environmental protection and spitting in the face of Native communities, wildlife advocates, and climate science itself. Of course, there is more, but our minds and bodies can accept only so much.
On a happier note, Mr Korbyn and Miss Rylynn met my sister, their great aunt Lueann, on Thursday.

Yesterday, after several video calls, Cousin Kaden and his dad finally met Korbyn in person. Seeing the oldest grandchild with the youngest felt a little unreal. They just grow up too fast.

Your summary of the week’s outrages is all to accurate. I can hardly stand to think about it. I wouldn’t have thought the White House meant so much to me, but there it is, demolished, and I’m really demolished too. Such an iconic action (and clearly not by chance).
It is so sad, particularly the outdoor spaces. There is no reason for it except to demonstrate that he can do what he wants
Thinking about everything happening with this country lately makes me sick to my stomach. Hope you have a good week.
I have spent thousands of hours this year upset over the wrecking ball that has been taken to all the things I love. All I feel like I can do now is press on, doing small things to encourage change.
It’s wonderful to be able to see this new person in the world—that is always hopeful for me.
