A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.
HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
The weather was the news this week. Severe Weather Alerts brought rain, thunderstorms, hail, high winds, tornadoes, and flooding. Our family made it through pretty well. We had some surface moisture on the basement floor, and there were some shingles in the yard. There was some flooding and damage throughout the town. Daughter #1’s area had stronger winds, which caused a power outage, some damage, and several downed trees and branches, but they had no personal damage. Schools were closed on Wednesday due to the power outage, and most of the sporting events were cancelled. Milwaukee had severe flooding, making travel throughout the city dangerous. A country church was hit hard. The storms ran through the Midwest all week, with the weather service reporting 5 tornado touchdowns, EF – 0 to EF-3 in Southern Wisconsin.

Growing up in Wisconsin, I rarely remember going to the basement during storms. Many people in my neck of the woods, including my father, who was a fireman/chief, had other ideas. He would go outside or to the fire station and watch the sky, many times with me by his side. My husband has always done the same. I love comedian Charlie Berens. He was brought up and still lives in Wisconsin. Sans the beer, the video below is spot on for us, only not for dads, but moms too, and sometimes the kids. The trip to Oz adds to the fun.

I had to share your books and dogs quote with my friend who loves both, too. I’m sorry you had such awful weather last week. Tornadoes frighten me to death.
I guess you become reasonably immune to the fear of them if they are so common. Glad you are safe!
Thanks for sharing your week
