HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
Sports were back in play this week, but they really started last Saturday when Daughter #1, Remi, Daughter #2, Korbyn, Charlotte, Nana, and Papa hit the road to join Rylynn and her parents at Natalie’s first outdoor tournament of the year. Frankly, we all wished we were back in the dome, but I am getting ahead of myself. The high school baseball/softball fields are a ways away from the school and its parking lot. There is a small parking area near the diamonds, with a grassy area for overflow (more vehicles would have fit if the cars hadn’t been parked willy-nilly). After that, people were parking on the side of a busy highway. We were able to park in the grassy area after some cars left. But this area is atop a pretty good hill above the diamonds. Some vehicles were parked near the diamonds, people running concessions, etc., but the “driveaway” was blocked at the top. So, with Mr. Dollycas holding on tight to my wheelchair and the girls helping, we got me down the steep hill in one piece. 😀

Now, why we would have preferred the dome; temps were in the 40’s, and a very cold wind was blowing, with the sun only peaking out occasionally. We thought we had dressed for the weather, but that wind was brutal. Natalie had three games to play, but we all decided it was just too cold for the babies and old folks. We decided to leave after the first game. Rylynn’s dad stayed with Natalie.

The games were close, but didn’t go our way. By the third game, the girls were frozen and just wanted to get it over with.
Oh, and getting me up that hill to the car took four people. We received help from a wonderful man who saw us struggling. Note to self: if there are games there next year, we will stay home and get the highlights from Natalie.
Warmer weather moved in after the weekend.

It was in the 70’s when Nana and Papa met up with Daughter #1 for Remi’s track meet. There was a little traveling around the track to see his events, but it was much easier than on Saturday. Remi runs the 100-yard dash, the 4 x 1600 relay, and does the long jump. He did okay in the 100-yard dash, but his relay team ran the event in just under a minute. All the boys exceeded their previous personal best times. Remi exceeded his personal best in the long jump, too, by almost 2 feet!
While Remi was running around the track, Natalie was playing softball with her school team, and this happened. Please click the link, as I was unable to embed the video. https://www.facebook.com/reel/1001936392161886 In case you can’t see it, the picture below only tells part of the story. The girl hit her first-ever home run, over the fence, and the bases were loaded. A Grand Slam! Her team won 20 – 6. Those girls must have been on fire. I didn’t get to see it in person, but I have watched the video several times. I have a feeling her dad was watching down from heaven and cheering for her as loud as he could.
Oh, and the next day was her birthday.
