Sharpe Shooter
by Lisa B. Thomas
This book was very interesting as this one is written from the prospective of the victim’s family looking for answers and what those answers lead to.

Synopsis
Burned-out high school teacher Deena Sharpe is ready for a change. She has no idea a fifty-year-old murder case is about to turn her life upside down.
The Perry County Sheriff’s office has found a skeleton in the closet…literally. When they identify the man’s body fifty years after his disappearance, his family turns to Deena to uncover the truth about his murder. The clock begins ticking when she discovers a mysterious writer is about to implicate the victim in his latest conspiracy theory book. She must channel her inner super-sleuth to solve the puzzle and protect her family name. With the help of her off-beat brother and others from the cozy town of Maycroft, Texas, Deena takes on a quest that leads to more questions than answers.
Sharpe Shooter is the first book in the Cozy Suburbs Mystery Series. With antique shopping, car chases, and ghosts in the night, the story will keep you guessing as you follow Deena on her quest for the truth.
About The Author –
Born and raised in Texas, I always knew I wanted to be a writer. Finally, after thirty-three years as a high school Journalism and English teacher, I dusted off the laptop and released my first novel. Having grown up reading Trixie Belden, Nancy Drew, and Agatha Christie, I was drawn to the mystery genre.
With two grown children out of the nest, I live a quiet life with my husband and Peekapoo puppy. Besides writing, I enjoy my grandchildren, photography, traveling, and antiquing (aka. buying and selling used junk). Like my main character, Deena, I have an antique booth and enjoy treasure hunting and reselling vintage finds.

Who do your stories appeal to?
Men and women who love a puzzling mystery seem to enjoy my stories. They are classified as cozies because of the small town setting and amateur sleuth; however, my books are based on realism. No talking cats or witches (not that there’s anything wrong with those). Readers of Agatha Christie are fans.
Name three fun facts about you or your work.
1) The main character of my Cozy Suburbs Mystery Series, Deena Sharpe, is modeled loosely after me.
2) There is a symbolic spiritual message in Sharpe Edge.
3) I recently lost 70 pounds.
If you could go on a road trip with any author, dead or alive, who would it be, and where would you go?
In the past, I would have said Harper Lee without blinking an eye. I would have wanted to go back to her hometown and find out why she never published another novel and what hidden manuscripts she had lying around. Since reading Go Set a Watchman and all the hype behind it, the bloom has fallen off the rose somewhat.
Now, I would choose Stephen King. I am more of a fan of his writing style than his actual stories. I wouldn’t care where we went as long as I could pick his brain about how he invents words and phrases and creates such compelling prose.
How do you avoid or defeat writers block?
This is a tough one. I have been dragging my feet on my latest book for months. I have come to realize that it is all just a mind game. Writing is hard, mentally and emotionally. There are much easier ways I could spend my time. I have to pump myself up and find my passion for the project in order to keep going.
How do you define success as an author?
When readers say they enjoy my books, that is success to me. It may seem corny, but it’s true. I have a newsletter and readers can sign up at www.lisabthomas.com. I will send you a free copy of the true story behind Sharpe Shooter. The book is based on a personal family tragedy. But don’t read it until after you read the novel. Spoiler Alert!

Sounds like the start of a great new series. Looking forward to reading.
I am always open to find new authors to me and their books. Thank you for including Lisa B. Thomas on your blog. robeader53@yahoo.com
such a fun sounding read and a new-to-me author…thanks for the chance!!
From your comment on Harper Lee, I gather Go Set A Watchman wasn’t up to the hype. I haven’t read it but I didn’t figure it could compare to To Kill A Mockingbird at all.
Sharpe Shooter sounds like a fun read. Thanks for sharing.
