Pawprints & Predicaments (Lucky Paws Petsitting Mystery)
by Bethany Blake
Returning to the town of Sylvan Creek might just be a hazard.
As much as the townsfolks and political leaders want to get Sylvan Creek on the map it’s the crimes that keep happening that tend to get it noticed.
~My Reading Journeys
A dash of romantic possibilities (#teamJonathan), loads of quirky humor, and a well-plotted murder mystery round out the tale. A great choice for fans of cozy mysteries.
~Reading is my SuperPower
The plot this time around was very intriguing to me. I really had no idea who the villain was before it was revealed. The subplots were all great as well.
Blake has done it again by writing an absolutely incredible cozy mystery novel that I was unable to put down.
~Books a Plenty Book Reviews
I predicted from the first book in this series that this was going to become a favorite and still at book three I have not changed my mind. . . Bethany Blake uses words and turns a phrase. At the end of each chapter, she makes us eager to continue. A difficult to put down book.
I have to say this was an enjoyable read, approachable characters, a victim with a long list of possible killers and some really cute animals that will make melt your heart.
I find the protagonist, Daphne Templeton, highly entertaining and Ms. Blake writes with a terrific sense of humor that had me chuckling out loud on several occasions.
~Cinnamon, Sugar and a Little Bit of Murder
Bethany Blake has become one of my very favorite cozy mystery authors and there’s no way she could ever write fast enough to satisfy me.
~The Power of Words
There are many interesting characters, suspects, and recipes for dog treats. . . Animal lovers will enjoy this book and others in the series.
~Christa Reads and Writes
Bethany Blake has written a fun story with engaging characters, human, and animal, that captivated this reader from beginning to end. Small town life converged with an excellent mystery was so entertaining.
~Escape With Dollycas Into A Good Book
The author does a spectacular job with the continued character development and world building. I love Sylvan Creek and how alive the author writes the town and characters (that is, unless you happen to be the latest murder victim).
I most enjoyed the interactions between Daphne and her basset hound, Socrates. She holds conversations with him and is able to recognize what his different expressions and mannerisms mean. He makes for a great supporting character.
This was a well-written book that flowed well and kept me entertained. . . I really like the animal characters in this book, and the human characters are pretty good too.
~Melina’s Book Blog
The true identity of the killer (and murder weapon) caught me completely by surprise here, even though it made perfect sense. I love when that happens! . . . This series is the cat’s meow for animal lovers of all species!
~Melissa’s Mochas, Mysteries, and Meows
Readers can plunge into a chilling mystery and with some help of furry friends solve the mystery before they freeze! . . . This mystery was the best yet, and had a wonderful plot and many moments of “who done it’.
As an avid lover of fur babies, I was drawn to this cozy mystery because the book highlighted the love of pets throughout the book.

The Tail Waggin’ Winterfest is the highlight of the season in the famously pet-friendly Pocono Mountains town of Sylvan Creek. But despite attractions like an ice sculpture display, a dogsled race, and gourmet hot chocolate, Daphne Templeton finds herself annoyed by TV producer Lauren Savidge, who’s filming the festivities. She’s critical, controlling, and as chilly as the January air. Daphne would like to tell her to go jump in a lake—and as a matter of fact, that’s exactly what they’re both going to do . . .
It’s the first-ever polar bear plunge in Lake Wallapawakee, and Daphne and Lauren are among the eighty or so people who charge into the frigid water to raise funds for animals in need. Daphne makes it back to shore—with the help of a mysterious St. Bernard—but Lauren is dragged out stone cold dead. Now, with her trusty basset hound Socrates at her side, Daphne intends to assist Detective Jonathan Black in his investigation—whether he wants her to or not . . .
Includes recipes for homemade pet treats!

A St. Bernard and a basset hound? What a great combination.
