~Baroness’ Book Trove
I loved this book!! . . . This is the first book in the Marygene Brown mystery series and I’m already hooked!!
SOUTHERN SASS AND KILLER CRAVINGS provides a fun mystery while also tackling the tough subjects of family estrangement and domestic abuse . . . I thoroughly enjoyed my first trip to Peach Cove Island and look forward to returning!
~Cozy Up With Kathy
The author captures the southernisms and Georgia setting realistically and had me hearing, smelling, and thinking I was right there, visiting Peach Cove.
~Cinnamon and Sugar and a little bit of Murder
You have turns and twists, murder, greed and some abuse to keep the pages turning at a fast pace. A great start to a wonderful series.
~Babs Book Bistro
Southern Sass and Killer Cravings is a humorous cozy mystery that is perfect to read on the front porch in a cozy rocking chair with sweet peach tea on a table nearby.
~The Avid Reader
It was a really funny mystery, with a fast pace and twists, humor, a bit of paranormal but also deep themes like domestic violence. If we add the atmosphere of a small southern town and tasty recipes it becomes a truly amazing read.
The writing is conversational and flows at a steady pace. I’m sure I had a smile on my face much of the time and I enjoyed this story very much.
~The Power of Words
This is a peach of a new series with good food and ghostly help.
Full of quirky small town southern charm and mouthwatering recipes, Southern Sass & Killer Cravings is an edgy cozy with a heroine who will draw readers’ sympathy for her struggles and admiration for her will to overcome them.
~Reading Is My SuperPower
Author Kate Young has created a cast of likable characters readers will enjoy watching grow over the course of the series.
~Lisa Ks Book Reviews
I found the plot to be intriguing. The characters are well-developed and likable. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
~Socrates’ Book Reviews…
It has all of the things that I look for in a cozy: engaging characters, a charming setting, and a good mystery to solve. It also has a ghost, which is a real plus in my opinion.
. . . this book was as sweet as a peach! The mystery was blended perfectly with awesome characters and that divine setting that only made it as perfect as a sweet tea.
This was an enjoyable read with great characters, a town that comes together, and a mystery that takes some work to figure out.
~Christa Reads and Writes
The whodunnit side of the plot had a fair share of twists, with her mother’s ghost making an appearance at both convenient and inconvenient times.
Wowza! as a first book in a series this one pulled no punches, this is well worth a read and then a re-read to pick up what you missed the first time around!
~A Wytch’s Book Review Blog
This was a great mystery read that also had a great family dynamic to it . . . I thought the book was fast paced and well written and it kept me guessing till the very end.
~Melina’s Book Blog
Let me start the review by saying that Southern Sass and Killer Cravings is one of the (most) unique cozy mystery that I have ever read . . . an entertaining and promising cozy series debut.
~The Book Decoder
The author has done a great job of introducing some interesting characters and setting the scene for what I hope will be many more books to come.
