Checked Out for Murder: A Haunted Library Mystery
by Allison Brook
Checked Out for Murder is an entertaining whodunit with a temptress thespian, a manipulating mother, a fugitive feline, a perished psychic, a troubled beau, and a curious Carrie.
~The Avid Reader
Movie-making, relationship drama, and murder! Checked Out for Murder is a delightful cozy mystery with authentic characters that feel like family by the end of the book. 5 stars and a favorite!
~Diane Reviews Books
This is a well written, fast-paced mystery that can be read in a couple of evenings. The author does an especially good job at setting the scene and creating interesting characters.

The writing style flows smoothly and the book is a quick easy read. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and those descriptions came alive in my mind’s eye. I felt like I was right there watching all of the action taking place.
This was a good read filled with a bit of drama and murder. I enjoy Carrie and the resident ghost Evelyn.
~My Reading Journeys
CHECKED OUT FOR MURDER is a well structured complex mystery that delves into identity. You may take on other disguises, but in the end, for better or worse, the real you will shine through.
~Cozy Up With Kathy
With its fun plot, well-developed characters, and multiple murders, Checked Out For Murder makes for a great cozy read.

This series just keeps getting better and better! . . . Full of fantastic characters in an adorable small town that readers would love to visit if the could. A must read for fans of copies with a library/ghost theme. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
~Books a Plenty Book Reviews
This is the fourth book in the Haunted Library mystery series and I think it’s the best one yet. It’s a fast-paced mystery with several twists and turns along the way. I thought I had it all solved halfway through the book, but I was totally on the wrong track. I love when a book tricks me. So much fun.
~Socrates’ Book Reviews…
Checked Out for Murder is every bit as delightful as its predecessors and I think it’s actually the most layered of the books so far . . . A great plot, a great protagonist, and a great read!
~Reading Is My SuperPower
This is my first haunted library mystery and I have to say I really enjoyed it . . . Its a light and fun cozy.
~A Chick Who Reads
I thought this book was well written just like the others in the series. I find the character of Evelyn, who is a ghost to be very refreshing of course the setting is awesome, who does not love a library, right.

Carrie Singleton and Evelyn the ghost sleuth the slayings of a starlet and a star-crossed psychic in Agatha Award nominee Allison Brook’s fourth Haunted Library mystery.
Daphne Marriott strolls into Clover Ridge and informs librarian Carrie Singleton that she’s a psychic. But had she foreseen what fate awaited her, Daphne would have steered clear of the quaint Connecticut town. Evelyn, the library ghost, tells Carrie that there’s more to Daphne than she lets on.
The mysterious woman grew up in Clover Ridge with her no-good dad, who apparently met his end at the hands of Daphne’s brother, Billy. Still, Daphne proves a welcome distraction when Carrie’s overbearing mother hits town. Mom’s much younger husband, Tom, is in a movie that’s lensing locally, and she’s there to keep an eye on him: Tom’s costar, sultry Ilana Reingold, is also his ex-fiancée, and there’s no denying the chemistry is still there. Soon after mingling with the moviemakers at a meet-and-greet, Daphne is found dead.
Carrie and Evelyn investigate, assisted by bushy-tailed library cat Smoky Joe. But the suspect list could overflow the library shelves. Has Billy killed another relative? Is their long-missing mother involved? Or Daphne’s mean ex-husband? Carrie’s sure she knows who committed the crime, but can she bind together the clues before the culprit Dewey-decimates the town?
