Why Google Docs?
Over the years many people have asked why I use Google Docs for most of my giveaways. I mainly use them because I can collect your email and mailing address all in one shot. I can email you to tell you about your win and print a mailing label quickly to pass on to my mailing assistant, now Mr. Dollycas because Daughter #2 has left the nest, and he can package up the book and set up shipment all without you needing to reply until you receive your book. Google Docs makes it easy for me to add your bonus entries too.
We use Rafflecopter for the Great Escapes Book Tours because it allows for all the participating blogs to be listed and many of the author’s social media accounts as bonus entries. After the winner/s are chosen I email them and have to wait for their reply with the needed information before I can send that author/publisher. Sometimes several days pass because a winner fails to reply to 2 emails and alternate winners must be randomly selected and emailed. I am always surprised how many winners fail to reply. Also, with Rafflecopter I find a lot of bots can enter from places all around the world, especially for gift cards, so while many can be disqualified by excluded countries, the extra step of waiting for a reply is very beneficial.
Last year, I tried King Sumo but canceled my subscription after 2 giveaways because their features took over my blog, and the bonus entry features did not fit my needs. Someone suggested I try Giveaway Tools. I have tried to set up an account there but the site has yet to let me complete a setup, and their customer service has never replied to me.
